but I haven't seen a commercial at all, so I guess that's better than nothing.

Of COURSE they release a DVD with extra footage once I spent all the money to get the UK one Well, I am going to wait until some other people have the American version before deciding to buy it (or ask for it for xmas maybe). Just to make sure it actually does have more stuff.... I mean, 4 episodes more would be a *lot* more stuff! I think that was something I felt LWD definitely could have used. I knew there had to be more things there, it felt a bit crammed in, you know?

I'm working on feeling better from the surgery. Still have 3 weeks of a lot of restrictions, though. Then I can start physical therapy.

Rach - Back surgery? Yikes. Feel better soon!

As for Ewan, we have to look forward to LWD and the Amelia movie. Anything else?

Long Way Down - The Big Screen Version!

They say everything is bigger in the United States of America and as far as the Long Way Down franchise is concerned, those in the 'land of opportunity' are being treated to an especially large slice of McGregor and Boorman pie on Thursday July 31st. A special two-hour 'Director's Cut' of Long Way Down will air just once at 7.30pm in 400 movie theaters nationwide.

American audiences have yet to see the Long Way Down series on television and this exclusive director's cut is a unique prelude to the 10-part TV series, which starts on 2 August on Fox Reality Channel. Airing for one night only, attending the two-hour special will be the only way the public are able to see this film on the big screen. Consequently, demand for tickets (which go on sale June 27th) is expected to be extremely high.

It was the original Long Way Round odyssey in 2004 that helped bring the BMW R 1150 GS Adventure and the possibilities of adventure travel to the masses. The series also catapulted Charley Boorman to fame and did no harm to Ewan McGregor's reputation either. The established movie star's dream of traversing Europe, Russia, Central Asia and the USA with his best mate became a worldwide hit and inspired countless riders to leave the safety of their daily existences for life on the road.

Fast-forward a couple of years and talk started about a new adventure for the boys - on BMW's new R 1200 GS Adventure. But what could be better than riding from London to New York the Long Way Round? How about a 15,535 mile journey starting at John O'Groats, Scotland and finishing several months later at the most southern point of South Africa - Cape Agulhas? Taking in 20 spectacular countries in total, Ewan and Charley's long and arduous journey took them across Libya, through the deserts of Sudan, the tribal wastelands of Ethiopia, the jungles of Uganda, through Rwanda, Tanzania and Botswana before arriving at their destination.

The television series is currently airing in many countries all over the world on the National Geographic channel, and all will be revealed to American audiences nationwide when the two-hour High-Definition movie premiere begins at 7.30pm on July 31st all over the USA.

BMW Motorrad dealers are expected to encourage all their customers to pack out each movie theater with BMW fans, as well as organizing ride-outs to many of the local theaters. With such a great branding opportunity, expect to see GS displays in lots of theatres, as well as dedicated BMW motorcycle parking provided outside.

Tickets go on sale June 27th and are only $10, so if you know that you will be in the United States on this day - for business or pleasure - make sure you visit NCM Fathom. Groundbreaking Cinema Entertainment to find out where the nearest movie theater showing the film is.

Mongolian girl named Jamyan grows healthy and happily in Hollywood star’s home

2008-05-23

Hollywood star Ewan Gordon McGregor has promised to render assistance to Mongolian children infected with the EV71.

We know well Hollywood star Ewan Gordon McGregor, who took on the role of a younger Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, a role originally made famous by Sir Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars films. It is seemed to us Mongolians that Hollywood stars are very far. But, he is a close person for us. Because, a Mongolian girl named Jamyan lives in a star’s home. She is six years old and grows healthy and happily.

Four years ago or in 2004, a famous star with his friend Charley Boorman was traveling on 32.000 km around the world for three months. While he was traveling, he adopted a two-year-old girl from Mongolia.

Ewan McGregor and his wife designer Ève Mavrakis have two daughters besides of Jamyan. He always studies about Mongolia, where his adopted daughter was born in.

Recently, he has given interview to a newspaper about his Mongolian daughter. He said that “Chingess Khaan’s child grows healthy in my home. I love my daughter Jamyan too much. I have much information about Mongolia, where my daughter was born in. Unfortunately, there is information that the EV71 has appeared in Mongolia, and many children have been infected with it. It is difficult. Thus, I want to help my daughter’s friend children. I think, I will take my daughter to her homeland in this summer. That time, I will help Mongolian children”. We are expressing our appreciation to Hollywood star, who brings up Mongolian girl.

Review of Othello studio recording

Includes a free DVD containing interviews with the cast

Shakespeare’s Othello is one of his finest and most famous tragedies. This highly acclaimed performance, which ran between November 2007 and February 2008 at the Donmar Warehouse in London, features Chiwetel Ejiofor as the Moor Othello, Ewan McGregor as the scheming Iago, and Kelly Reilly as the gentle Desdemona. This recording features music written specifically for the stage production which enjoyed huge success – each performance was a sell-out.

IN THE STUDIO
Film, TV, radio and audiobook are all very different disciplines. Because an actor can shine in one, it doesn’t mean that he or she will shine in another – which is why the crossover from one to another always has an element of risk. Will a big film star make a similar impression on stage? Will an actor accustomed to the classical stage be equally effective on a big screen? And what happens to both in the intimate environs of the voice studio?

All three elements were involved in the audiobook recording of the Donmar Warehouse production of Othello – but the end result was something quite exceptional.

We recorded at Soundhouse, a modern studio in West London. Ewan McGregor turned up, as expected, in leathers on a powerful motorbike – his preferred mode of transpor – while the rest of the cast used the more prosaic London transport, with one or two bicycles.

It was the last week of the stage production and the atmosphere was extremely positive – everyone said this was a cohesive cast on and off stage, with all gathering before each evening performance to warm up together. This was not a star vehicle, but very much a company production.

So, for three days, they got up early to be in time for the 10 a.m. call, though just twelve hours before they had been taking off their make-up after a performance. They sat in the actors’ room just outside the studio, awaiting their calls, while in the control room was Michael Grandage, the director, Penny Leicester, the audiobook producer, and Wilfredo Acosta, the engineer and technical director. And there were visitors from time to time, including the composer Adam Cork and members of the Donmar staff.

The idea was to reproduce as closely as possible the stage production, while making the most of the strengths of audiobook/radio – very intimate close-ups and intensity of dialogue.

The use of sound effects and music play a key role in audio drama and these needed to be adapted to the different medium.

But the heart of the production – the actors’ performances – was there much the same. For the thousands who tried to get into the Donmar to see it (it was sold out for the entire run), this was a very close rendition!

And it worked on its own terms too. Michael Grandage is a fan of drama on audio and radio and preferred to record his production for this medium rather than video.

It was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 where it was regarded as one of the finest performances of Shakespeare on radio for many years, mirroring the production’s success on stage, which led to Chiwetel Ejiofor winning the Olivier Award for best actor.

Listen! You will not be disappointed.

Ah, I should have known better. Of course he has a bunch of projects going at once. He's one busy actor. Dare I say it? He's the hardest working man in show business.

Wish I could go to the theater and watch that special showing. Unfortunately I have class on Thursdays. Why does it have to be a one-time deal? And/or why couldn't it be more than one night? How about a week or weekend or at least 2 days?

And LWD has already started on NatGeo? Sheesh, I'm missing everything. Dog Whisperer wasn't on last Friday because of the holiday, so I never saw any commercials for it. Is it running all week?
