I don't think he meant to be rude, but maybe because of his upbringing? I imagine that Thranduil keeps a tight leash on the Prince of Mirkwood and he really has no dealings with other people except maybe a few from Lake Town. Thranduil keeps his kingdom closed to the outside world and with no chances to interact with the other races, Legolas can only assume that his father is right. Thranduil has passed all of his prejudices against the Dwarves onto his son. To Legolas, Dwarves are automatically the enemy because his father has deemed it so. You can tell at the beginning of FOTR that he still doesn't think very highly of them and that must surely be attributed to what happened 60 years ago. It's only when he does spend a significant amount of time with Gimli that he probably begins to understand that not all Dwarves are bad people, just like not all Elves are good people.

List some of them, I'm intrigued

I think some of it's to do with his age, he's younger here and he's not as mature, nor has he been out and around others that much. He's very much an ignorant Prince in my eyes
