Why did they let go of the rapture storyline?

It would've been cool to see how more addicts are surviving the withdrawal.

They could've made Phil an addict to help explain his personality change.

Yes that would have actually made sense. The book made more of it if I remember correctly.

Yes, drugs was a big part of the book. They just dropped it on the show.
