I guess she has been a bit of a wild child, since her moms were taking her to a "camp" to clean up her act; but she is showing she has a good heart and maybe her seeming rebelliousness was really a bid for attention.

Besides the devastation of losing Alice for Norrie and Carolyn, this leaves the town without a doctor as well. She's going to be much missed, including by us.

(I wonder why the Dome wanted the baby to be born just then? Did it know Dr. Alice was close to death and would be needed to direct the birthing? hmmm)

That's an interesting question. The birth did have a few complications. I doubt anyone knew how to get the umbilical cord from around the babies neck.

At one point, it looked like the baby was what killed Alice. But why does one birth have to result of the death of another.

Exactly. Barbie wouldn't have known that the umbilical cord was strangling the baby: Alice knew what to look for. The more I think about it, the more certain I feel that the Dome forced Harriet's labor to SAVE her baby .. it would've died without Alice's presence. Sadly, the Dome couldn't save Alice - it just knew she was going to die soon. Speeding up the birth was the best it could do for baby Alice.

Put another way: The DEATH resulted in the BIRTH - not the other way around!

I had a feeling Alice would pass away but I couldn't help but get teary eyed over it. She was such a strong asset to the community...now they are without a doctor. And poor Norrie. I was hoping that she and her mom would sit down and have a talk about her father. Now maybe she...and the tv audience...will never know.
