TDK/Joker Appreciation Thread #9: No mere mortal can resist the evil of The Joker...

The Dark Knight Appreciation

Art By: Jenn

Batman and James Gordon join forces with Gotham's new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to take on a psychotic bank robber known as The Joker, whilst other forces plot against them, and Joker's crimes grow more and more deadly.

Animations by Ashley

Trivia:
1. This is the first Batman film to not have "Batman" in the title.
2. Robin Williams, Lachy Hulme, Paul Bettany, and Adrien Brody all expressed interest for the role of the Joker before Heath Ledger was cast.
3. When asked, "Why Heath Ledger as the Joker?" Christopher Nolan said, "Because he's fearless."
4. The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result.
5. Heath Ledger's sudden death on January 22, 2008 prompted immediate speculation as to the state of this film. Late the same day, Warner Bros. released a statement declaring that Ledger had completed all his scenes and post-production work, thus making the Joker the actor's final completed appearance in a film.
6. Sir Michael Caine said of Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker: "He is going to surprise a lot of people. He is absolutely terrifying. I'd say that he is the scariest thing I've ever seen on screen."

Np! I had a "Thriller" moment... Been listening to that song while I've been working. The last voiced lines just got stuck in my head

The video freaked me out, tho, so I always try to avoid watching it. Thankfully, I won't have the same problem with Heath's Joker!

There is one Joker action figure at a Fnac store near my house. I wish I had money to buy it. It's amazing how a toy can look a real person these days.

Fnac... Reminds me of heaven... I went to one when I was vacationing in Portugal several years ago. I love that store...

Mel - They should have it in a toy store... Especially in Oz
