I can see both of them messing up again from time to time.

I do feel it was a bit rushed but I think the important thing is that Kat understands that Patrick was honest about caring for her, that those scenes they shared during the paintball fight/etc and those talks they had where it seemed their walls were coming done for each other, was genuine. And hopefully now they can start over.
