Its sad cause it kinda feels like no matter what happened, it was going to end sad.

Ennis wasn't going to live with Jack and build a home, etc. They were always just going to see each other occasionally but they were never going to be properly in a 'relationship'.

So, yeah, it wasn't going to end well. Though I can't imagine either of them ever thinking that it would end in death.

I don't think either thought that too. I really think that Ennis might have realized..after talking to Jack's dad, how close he'd been to losing him before he died. I think that's one of the reasons he said 'Jack, I swear...' at the end.

But didnt he only talk to Jack's Dad because of Jack dieing? Ennis was never going to relalise on his own.

That's very true too. I think it took Jack dying to really maybe realize what he could have had..always and what he lost forever.
