Found this article on Zoe. She is being discussed because she said that while she identifies herself as black primarily she wants to be seen as just Zoe. She dislikes that people ask her questions about which race she sees herself in.

Jeez, can't Zoe just be Zoe? I agree with her thoughts about color, which is why a long time ago when I went into education I promised myself that, besides to never curse, if anyone asked me what race I am I would simply identify myself as American.

I agree. I'm Canadian. All my grandparents and some of my great-grandparents were born here. Some questionaires ask for ethnic background, and I always put Canadian.
