Agreed. I would have liked to see more of Chakotay too. To me it seemed he got more storylines in the first few seasons than towards the end.

They tried to give him romances with alien women, but it never really seemed to work.

Because we all knew that deep down, he wanted Katherine.

I knew that you'd see the sense if you took a moment to think about it.

Yeah. Took me a while to accept the idea of Tom & B'Elanna because I didn't figure he was serious, whereas she wasn't the type to play around.

B'Elanna did have a crush on Chakotay , but I guess she knew that wouldn't work because he loved Katherine.

Yeah, there were a couple of first season episodes that implied the possibility of a Chakotay/B'Elanna pairing. I'm glad they dropped that and explored the Janeway & Chakotay chemistry instead.

They should have had more loving on the ship. They didn't get a chance to romance a lot of aliens.

True, but I can't say that I minded that they kept things a little more ... professional.

In the first season Tom & Harry talked about the Delaney twins ... or were they just sisters? I wonder what happened to them?

Watched 'Hope and Fear' the other night. An alien tricks them into believing that Starfleet has sent them a ship with quantum slipstream propulsion to get home. I'm going to have to find a transcript because there were some quotes that would be good hangman material.

This board loves it's Hangman game.

I found this from a People Magazine in August.

Scarlett Pomers, who played "Naomi Wildman" on Star Trek: Voyager and then spent her teen years on Reba, has recently been profiled about her struggle with anorexia and how she conquered it. Two years ago the actress, at age 16, checked into rehab for the eating disorder weighing only 73 pounds, undergoing two months of intense inpatient care. She then began regular outpatient therapy which continues to this day. Now 18, she has learned to satisfy her body's cravings and not to weigh herself every day, according to an article in this week's People magazine.

But Pomer's main secret is her practice of Kundalini yoga, which emphasizes meditation and chanting. "Yoga always made me feel really good about myself," she said. "It was the final step of letting go of the demon." Recently Pomers launched a nonprofit foundation called Arch-Angels, to benefit the educational efforts of the National Eating Disorders Association.

Yes, I'd heard of Scarlett's struggle with anorexia. I'm glad that she's healthier now. Thanks for the link to the article. I'll have to find time to read it.

Been watching some Voyager for the first time in a while. I get to take a new look at the characters. Still hate 7 of 9. She's played really unpleasantly. It's very hard to believe there really is any humanity in her. And they overuse her no end. So much screen time wasted on her painfulness. And that outfit is pure sexual objectification stuff, totally unnecessary. Janeway I like a bit better than I used to but I'm still not desperately fond her. She just doesn't work all that well. It's a pity they didn't do better for Trek's first female captain, maybe something more like Enterprise season 4's Captain Hernandez. The Janeway-7of9 double team can be seriously annoying and we get way too much of it. Though Janeway's by far the better part of that. The best character is probably Chakotay, because Robert Beltran makes something of the role, though they don't give him a lot to work with. The Doctor is good but only goes so far. Harry is sympathetic, which makes him one of the better-functioning characters. I used to be annoyed by Neelix but now I find I'm ok with him. Tuvok is convincing. Tom Paris is ok. Belanna is a failure. She's supposed to be this fiery half Klingon but she comes across more just petulant than fiery. There isn't any feeling of strength off her and she feels petty and limited. Not convincing as half klingon and not convincing as a capable starfleet officer. This show doesn't do very well with it's female regulars, though Kes wasn't bad (DS9 was the best Trek show for female regulars, two good characters and no bad ones).

But jeez they never stop flogging the 7 of 9 crap. What anybody gets out of it I don't know. I mean, the I'm-human/I'm-not-human/what's-being-human-like/humans-are-funny/I-want-to-be-human/I-don't-want-to-be-human thing had been done to death on trek already and 7's version was just a bland by-the-numbers take on it churned out in a distinctly uninspired manner. As a character she was also downright unpleasant. Jeri Ryan's performance succeeds in being deeply unlikeable. Certainly I find nothing sympathetic about Seven and no sense that there might be greater depths hidden in her. Finally there's that outfit and I have to wonder if that's what made seven popular. The same trick they pulled in Enterprise with T'Pol. I bet if they put 7 in a non-objectifying Starfleet uniform they'd have lost viewers.
