If only I had come across that for the Spock quote survivor. Oh well.

Speaking of Spock, my family and I saw Leonard Nimoy via Skype at the Comic Con, today. He was hilarious! Also, very kind. I tried to shoot video of it on my phone, but ran out of memory. Interestingly, one of the last questions asked of him was "What was your favorite character you've ever played?" He responded, first, by recounting a few of something like 150 roles, but then said (I'm going to have to paraphrase) "Of all the parts I've played, I'm best known for Spock--people will say 'That guy played Spock'--and I'm okay with that."

That's nice to hear. It's certainly understandable that an actor would like to be remembered for a variety of work, If the actor has been lucky enough to portray such an iconic role, they need to appreciate that it meant something to fans, and it will be remembered.

That picture reminds me of something else Mr. Nimoy said on Saturday. He said that the addition of Chekhov was largely inspired by the Beatles. They added a young, good-looking guy in a mop top to take advantage of Beatlemania. "What they didn't count on," he said, "was that they were getting such a terrific actor."
