New ST shout out on The Soup: Joel McHale is talking about how Hugh Hefner wants Robert Downey, Jr. to play him in a biopic, then says that George Takei will play Hugh's #3 girlfriend Kendra, and then we see alternating clips of George and Kendra with their crazy laughs.

I wish there was a smilie that could accurately portray the two laughs. Nope. None will do.

eta: I stopped briefly on SciFi's Heatstroke movie tonight and heard a reference to Klingons.

The Soup is so funny and they do love their Star Trek references.

What is 'The Soup'? A sit-com or comedy sketches?

You don't know what The Soup is? Dude, it's the most awesomest show that makes fun of all the other shows! Original episodes air on Friday's at 10:00 p.m. EDT on E! and then are repeated several times until the next new episode.

hmm ... sounds like something I should make an effort to check out. I'll check my listings, maybe a Canadian station has picked it up.

I guess Klingon is the new Greek, at least when trying to express incomprehension. I can't find the exact line (read it last night but didn't mark the spot or make a note), but in Three to Get Deadly by Janet Evanovich, the main character narrates something like, "They might as well have been speaking Klingon." Too bad there's no CTRL-F to search the text of paperbacks.

Yes, when you're reading a book it is hard to mark interesting passages especially if you don't want to deface the book. The fact that the author would feel that people would recognize the Klingon reference as being incomprehensible says something.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of sticking a piece of paper between the pages to mark the spot. Writing in a book?! Never.

Dog ears belong on dogs, not pages! Hmmph!

Any way, I was flipping channels earlier today and I had to stop a moment when I heard someone being described as looking like a Star Trek villain. The movie was Kill Bill, don't know which volume.

I was watching the comedy The Big Bang Theory and the show's stars Leonard and Sheldon were playing Tri- Dimensional Chess.

My thoughts exactly.

Can't imagine trying to keep track of all the possible moves in tri-dimensional chess.

There was a joke about losing on many levels.
