Me too. It's my favourite TOS movie.

I give it just a slight edge over Voyage Home.

So do I (those are both my top Trek movies).

TVH is a different kind of movie than WoK, so it's not exactly comparing apples to apples. TVH has a lot of humor (and even some improv) and is about a macro issue (i.e. saving whales from extinction). Though characterization informs the characters' choices, there's very little character development, per se. Whereas WoK is a much more intimate, personal story with a lot of character development. It explores universal (macro) themes trough the (micro) storylines of the characters.

So, for me, it's like, "What mood am I in: wanting to laugh and feel uplifted (TVH) or delve into deep emotion (WoK)?" Depends on the day.

First Contact was pretty great.

If they couldn’t resolve Picard’s conflict with the Borg in TNG, I’m glad they were able to do it in the movie.

Lisa - perfect comparisions of the two movies. WoK is a lot darker & serious overall, but as you say, more character development. Voyage Home is much more escapist and has so many great laughs.

Thanks, gals!

First Contact is one of the best Trek movies, too, imo. Quite dark in the main storyline but leavened with humor in the "B" story (i.e. Zefram Cochrane). It was a smart move.

Indeed it was

Another one of the reasons it was great, for me, was that each character add their own part to play in the movie , where as the other movies it just seems a Picard and Data movie with the other main characters popping up here and there...

Ah, yes. That, too. And Riker, I think. Picard, Data, and Riker (though more Picard and Data).

Good variety of pictures in that set. Nice colouring too.

The storm pic is really effective.
