While it makes me sad to hear that, I also understand how they feel that it wouldn't be the same without him.

It's sad but I do get it. It's not the same so maybe they could just come up with something new, like they did before..
I mean I kinda feel what it was there before has run it's course and time has gone by that might be too late to catch that vibe from the previous movies of this ST verse, so I do feel it may be better to come up with a fresh new idea with new set of actors.
Sure I feel like it's one of my favorite franchises ever and I can just watch and rewatch all the time as my ''space mood'' is always there.

My new idea would be maybe set sometime in future with some offsprings from the known characters and with new stuff going on and all that jazz. To me the whole theme is never getting old and it's also sort of classics by now (IMHO) so that would be my route... Or creation of completely brand new AU
As I said, this is one of the things that won't get old (especially with actors I do like to watch aka favorites )

I just had a thought of a tv show but then I realized there are quite few out there already that are stalling on my watch-list

But I for sure would want some content in the ST verse... something that is in a way maybe a bit more futuristic and maybe a slightly bit cyber-punk-vibed with a hint of apocalyptic wind....

Or... wait..... wait.... wait....
I was reading this fic last night and just realized it would be actually cool to see a movie or something about Kirk's time on Tarsus IV.. I can sort of think of a few ways but I think it would be something I'd truly appreciate as from the all things I keep reading in the fandom.

Or something set in the mirror universe.

Yeah. I understand that too.

I really think if Tarantino were to direct a ST film, mirror universe would have been a perfect fit for him. Because it could have been as graphic as he wanted and no one would question it because it's the mirror universe. But I would love to see a cinematic Mirror universe. I think it would work as a stand-alone film though, not connected to anything else.

Completely agree, although it wouldn't really appeal to me. As you say, I'd prefer it to be a stand alone story.

If it happens, I understand it wouldn't be for everybody.

that's true. A Tarantino movie might inspire some different people to give the franchise a try, but I think over all his vision wouldn't be what established fans expect to see in a Star Trek film.

I'd like to see a film exploring some new species, I mean one we already hear about or saw in one episode maybe but that was never really explored. We always get klingons and romulans shoved down our throats till we puke, but what about a movie where the Gorn or the Tzenkethi have a major role.

Agree that it would be nice to see a focus on a species that we've been introduced to, but that hasn't been featured prominently to this point.

I'm still not fully into all the jargon but what is mirror verse? Is it like alternative universe or something else?

But I'd say I'd be pretty into it. Tarantino is a great chap.
