Agree with those not overly impressed with the supposed title.

I think the last time we had a cracker of a title for a Star Trek movie was during the movie-run of TNG.

I rather liked the title Insurrection of the Next Gen movie run.

Go for either 'The Undiscovered Country' or 'Nemesis'

Randy.

I like First Contact as a title.

If we are speaking of all the movies, then my favorite has to be The Undiscovered Country. The title alone offers a premise that could very well be the end of the Enterprise and her crew. At least that is how I felt about it in 1991.

Any more news from the makers of the new Star Trek feature film about cast or plot?

There was something about Simon Pegg saying the original script was "too Star Treky" - whatever that means.

Really? That's a bit weird. How can a Star Trek script be TOO Star Treky? Unless the original script had Shatner's Kirk in it, maybe?

Too me it is obvious. They want the new movies to appeal to "a wider audience."

It struck me as a really odd comment. Randy is probably on the right track with his suggestion that they want to appeal to a wider audience.

It makes sense to me considering the action-oriented nature of the new productions. They seem meant to appeal to action fans more than science fiction fans. Star Trek fans are also welcome to pay, but I do not believe they are the main focus.
