Although they may have small cameo appearances in The Wolverine, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan are not credited with the film at all. In fact, it is most likely that few if any mutants other than Wolverine will be in it, because it is set to take place after X-Men 3... According to Entertainment Weekly:

Quote:
The story, which takes place in Japan after the events of 2006,s X-Men: The Last Stand, follows the cues of the beloved Wolverine comics series from 1982. "He is no longer a member of some superhero team," says director James Mangold. "I was fascinated with the idea of portraying Logan as a ronin - the definition of which is a samurai without a master, without a purpose. War is over. What does he do? What does he face? Wat does he believe anymore? ... Those questions are especially interesting when you
re dealing with a character who is essentially immortal."
However, both Ian and Patrick ARE credited as appearing in the latest film in the X-Men franchise, which is scheduled for release next year.

You're welcome. And like I said, this doesn't mean that neither will appear in the movie, just that they are not credited. Patrick Stewart wasn't credited in the previous Wolverine movie until after it had been in theatres for a while, so a small cameo appearance is definitely still a possibility. One or both may also appear in flashbacks, if the rumours of Famke Janssen appearing as Jean Grey are true.

Patrick IS supposed to be in three movies being released this year, though. He is confirmed in Dorothy of Ox (though as a voice only) and Hunting Elephants. There are rumours that he will also appear in A Good Day to Die Hard with Bruce Willis.

Any thoughts for a new title? Something that includes "Hunting Elephants" might be intriguing.
