Me too. Have a meeting this afternoon to find out more about our options going forward. If there's no availability in town now, I think we can put her on a wait list might but wouldn't want to move her twice.

Glad to hear that Tracey.

The meeting went well. They just put mom on the waiting list for her current residence, we didn't have to list any other possibilities. That's a relief. Wasn't looking forward to her being out of town. Short term, she might go back to her current room, and pay for extra care until there's a bed available in a private or semi-private room in the long term care section.

Chris... does your mom need a lot of extra care that she has to pay for?

Prior to her fall, mom was getting a Personal Support Worker twice a day free through a government programme to help her get dressed and undressed. However, they're often short staffed and didn't have anybody to send. So the residence would help once they finished up wiht the people they were being paid to help. Mom was finding that upsetting, especially at night. If/when she goes back to her room, we'd sign up to have the residence provide the service until she can move to long term care where that kind of help would be included.

people are less reliable at night when it comes to providing personal care... so I can understnad your mom getting upset.

I only did the morning shift during my years as a home health aide... that's what they offered and I happily accepted. I had one solo late afternoon shift one year.... but he was very high care, could barely talk due to his disability and his mom lived with him
