I also think, one of the reasons I like Picard better than Discovery, is that each episode of Picard focused on each of its core characters. Star Trek has always been an ensemble cast. Before Picard premiered, one of the complaints I heard all the time from my fiance was that Discovery focused on one person and ignored everyone else. I've only seen the pilot of Discovery and don't really care the rest of it. I don't understand having a love-hate relationship with a show. But I feel like Picard knew how to deal with its ensemble cast and gave everyone their own treatment and highlighted their strengths. I like that. That's how Star Trek should be written! __________________

^ Hmm i admit I disagree with your view on many levels especially concerning the writing for picard, but I guess that's ok to not see it the same way. I preferred dsicovery bc the story was overall more interesting in had a better pace imo. But I do agree that sometimes the focus on a single character was too much there.

Yes, there was some focus on each of the characters in Picard. Although for the most part, I can't say that made some of them any more interesting to me. Discovery did better at exploring more characters in the second season.

The background on Raffi didn't make me like her, and should have included something about why she refers to Picard as JL.

I don't know, I can see a black market surviving. Some people would find a way for the temporary escape from reality. But the addiction background begs the question of how she managed to stay in Starfleet. Also, why would Picard trust her?

It also occurred to me, since Picard was basically cured of that disease he had in the series finale, does that future with the anomaly even happen?

It won't now, that was just a different path of his future, so even if he still had his disease, that still might not have happened

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Speaking of, I wonder if we will see Q next season, asking how it feels to be part synthetic, part human now?
