William Shatner Honoured With Nasa Award For Being A Star Trek Legend

Quote:
The Star Trek legend was given the Distinguished Public Service medal, the highest award bestowed by the agency to non-government personnel.

David Weaver, NASA’s associate administrator for the Office of Communications, said: "William Shatner has been so generous with his time and energy in encouraging students to study science and math, and for inspiring generations of explorers, including many of the astronauts and engineers who are a part of NASA today.

Anybody else watching The Librarians? I've noticed that Jonathan Frakes has directed a couple of episodes, and last week Rene A guest starred.

George Takei was a special guest on the Meredith Show last week. He was his usual cheerful self and explained what IDIC meant to the audience and even playfully made fun of an online poster who made fun of the gay community. While I am straight I do appreciate George and what he has done for both gay and straight causes. Now I really should go watch the new release To Be Takei...

Everybody needs role models, and it's always good to see a celebrity use their fame to help effect positive change.

I agree. Role models are very important, and much needed to encourage and inspire people in their daily activities.

Welcome to Fan Forum. Thanks for bringing over the interview. Will you be going to see him in Detroit?

For organizational purposes, I'm going to merge this with our general Men of Trek thread.
