Spiner brought the android Data to life in a way that has quite frankly stood the test of time. He also performed the character of Data's evil twin brother, Lore, proving he was versatile as needed for such a performance. As a child, I was perhaps most fascinated with his relationship to the character Tasha Yar. They were my first ship before that phrase was even a thing. Data was my favorite Trek character after Spock in those days and even now I prefer stories involving Capt. Picard, Data remains close behind as always..

He did a terrific job making the two characters different and believable.

It would have been nice to see more of the relationship between Data & Tasha. It's unfortunate that they killed her character off so early in the series.

Still, it was interesting to hear Data refer to it a couple of times later in the series. The relationship must have meant something to him.

There was one episode where we seen him dating somebody. she was blonde, and there was a double date at one point in the storyline. Sorry, I don't remember the episode.

I enjoyed the episodes that showed us Data becoming more human than android.

Are u thinking of "In Theory" by any chance? In it, Data strikes up a relationship with a female blonde who was part of Worf's security team. They double-dated with the O'Briens if I am not very much mistaken.

Yes! that must be it. Thanks for jogging my memory. In that instance I don't think Data had a genuine interest in making the relationship work.

He certainly did not seem to regret it not working. That ending was, I don't know, kind of cold on his part. But on a trivia note: I believe that episode was directed by Patrick Stewart! May have been his directorial debut on top of that!
