Honestly, I didn't care much for the character either. But it would be a plausible way to see Brent Spiner involved in the movie. Just a scene or two would be nice.

Just watched "The Measure of a Man". Totally terrific episode questioning what it takes to be considered more than an object. Picard's closing arguments were awesome.

Very. I don't generally like Pulaski, but I think her speaking of Data as an object/machine, helped the other crew realize that they considered Data to be much more than that.

Found this in my Facebook feed and thought I'd share:

I hope he enjoyed his birthday.
Thanks for the link Martin. The rest of the crew reacting to Data with a beard was just hilarious. Kudos to the writers for that "Ode to Spot" - I can't imagine that it was easy to come up with something so convoluted. __________________

Spiner did a very good job with Soong in Enterprise. I'd be happy to see the character again. Or any of his descendants. __________________

Anyway, to amend my assessment to a more correct verbiage, "Arik Soong was an ass." Happy? __________________

You're both on a different side of the Atlantic from me and Merriam-Webster is an American dictionary. Words have different usages on different sides of the Atlantic. You'll note, though, that even the second dictionary sort of lists my definition -see the examples they give. My definition of "punk" is what I grew up with. I never heard the other definition until recent times.
Spiner should appear in future Trek film(s) somehow, though maybe not as an overweight Data. __________________

Very true sum. Words can even take on different usages in different parts of the same country. And yes, your definition was the second example at the site I used.
Not sure that I'd want to see Spiner as Data. Although I suppose he could be a distant future Data, who decided to age himself to fit in better in order to explain his natural aging. I think I'd prefer to see him as Soong, if they do decide to use him. __________________
