Agreed, it wasn't necessary and it felt really blatant and forced imo. Like they wrote that scene especially for that moment.

Agreed. I'm sure a lot of people thought they might see more, or should I say less, of partially dressed Carol in the movie based on how heavily promoted that clip was in the trailers.
