Nor me. The writing of Discovery is far more captivating and complex, with great characterisation. I wanted the same for Picard but didn't get it.

To be fair though, I enjoyed the second season of Discovery more than the first.

I just finished watching both episodes, and honestly, I liked the second hour more than the first. So many epic moments and callbacks too, I loved it.

Agree that the 2nd hour did a nice job wrapping things up.

Just finished re-watching the finale and I noticed something about set decoration. The scene before Picard wakes up in his new body, you see these round hanging lamps on the ceiling. They look like the Death Star.

I've seen these lamps before, at IKEA!

Yeah a friend of mine has one too, they're pretty cool bc you can dim the light by opening or closing the hull of the lamp.

I wonder if they have IKEA in the 24th century?

the dimming feature sounds like a good idea.

Big fan of TNG. I finally came around to binging the first season. There were so, so many things wrong with it, in so many levels. The larger story didn't make sense (Romulans sabotage the UFP effort that was for their own salvation, no relation between the main Dahj/Soli storyline and the Borg reclamation storyline, ...). The details didn't make sense (the magic "use your imagination" thingy was straight fantasy not scifi, making "daughters" of Data using a single positron, Data being recreated virtually for so many years but not being given the opportunity to be transferred into a body, ...). The fan service didn't serve the plot (you remove 7 of 9 and Riker/Troi episode and you still have the same story). The mystery box storytelling and fast action directing is really not my thing. The Romulan elf samurai executing people was odd on Star Trek. Picard was like a side-character in a show named after him. And on, and on. I was keen to follow up straight ahead with season 2 but I got seriously cooled down. Too bad because I'm still excited for the TNG reunion that season 3 promises.

I don't know how this can inspire anyone to change the real world for the better like TOS and TNG did. I can't imagine anyone being a fan of this decades from now. A lost opportunity.

Completely agree. I kept watching weekly through the first season hoping that the show would improve and was really disappointed,
