Et in Arcadia Ego: Part 2
Quote:

A final confrontation on the synthetics' homeworld, Coppelius, pits Picard and his team against the Romulans, as well as the synths who seek to safeguard their existence at all costs.

I was in tears!

Chris 03-26-2020 07:43 PM

I watched both parts of this together.

- I really didn't buy Raffi's 'I love you' scene with Picard. And enough with the JL already!

- Agnes kept me guessing as to her motivations. Tearing out the eye to access the scanner?! eewww. At least she did help Picard

- why would any of them trust Narek?

- good scene between Seven and Narissa

- glad we seen Seven and Elrond Elnor again

- loved that Riker showed up, in uniform.:D

- everybody saying good bye to Picard was really moving

- great dream sequence between Picard and Data

- at least it didn't end as a cliffhanger

Or why would anyone trust agnes, she and narek are snakes. I mean narek's sister is disgusting, but at least you know where you're at with her, with agnes, she has this soft and whiny side to her, but at the same time she's a cold blooded psycho, I hate her more than narek's sister. Or on a similar level.

The episodes were ok, but not great, also I think they should've given data a new body instead of killing him forever.

crazy_diamond 03-27-2020 03:09 AM

I thought it was very bleh finale.

- Loved Riker turning up :D, best thing about the finale
- Enjoyed the Seven scenes, lovely scene with her and Elnor
- So is the stuff with Agnes and Maddox just going to be swept under the carpet!
- Glad Seven got justice for Hugh
- Liked Raffi and Rios scene
- Lovely scenes with Data, but also didn't mention any of the other family. No mention of Geordi!, no mention of Beverly who found Picard's disease in the first place!
- So Picard saying goodbye to the crew, I am sorry, but I just didn't buy it. Some of them basically knew him for 5 mins. We didn't get any real family scenes as I like to call them between them. Also his real family didn't even know!.
- Also what happened to Picard, well it's not Picard now is it. One of my fave all time characters and this is what happened .
- Now Picard is a copy, not the real thing. What is the point really.

So all in all very very disappointed with this season, and to think I was so excited. They shouldn't have gone ahead with this.

Completely agree. Agnes really comes across as the type who is used to whining and managing to get her own way. Drives me nuts. I still can't believe that Narek thought he'd be able to conn Soji after he tried to kill her. As to Narissa, she was a terrific villain. She never left any doubt that she was only looking out for herself.

It would seem so. She "redeemed" herself by saving Picard.

 Other than Soji and Elnor, we never seen an intense personal connection between him and the other characters. The teary good-byes just didn't seem realistic.

I feel the same.

Oh, and the Federation all of a sudden reversing it's stance on synthetic life forms? That made no sense at all.

ETA - and the orchid defense things? That just seemed over the top.

Yes agree with most you said, a lot could've been done better, especially they should've mentioned more of the old characters. But as I said before, I'm sure the writers never really watched TNG and hence have no feeling for what the show really was and what it meant to the fans. I guess they just got their info from the memory alpha wiki.

crazy_diamond 03-27-2020 01:10 PM

You would think that with TNG having so much history and much love from the fans, they would have put a bit more in about them..

Chris -, most of the stuff didn't really make sense..

Chris 03-27-2020 01:25 PM

 a bit more lip service to the past would have gone a long way.

Overall I just feel disappointed. There seemed to be a lot of filler. They should have focused more on the main storyline and showing the crew come together as a unit.

crazy_diamond 03-27-2020 01:59 PM

Exactly..

Meliana 03-28-2020 04:06 AM

I felt like most of the story didn't make much sense, and having Riker leave just before Picard dies and not being there for him? :irked:

I enjoyed Seven in all her scenes, more of her please!

Glad Narek's sister got killed.

So no consequences for Agnes having killed Maddox?

I felt nothing when Picard died, as I never bought into him being gone, really.

Why did they ever trust Narek? Also where did he go at the end of the episode?

I completely didn't understand Soji's motivation to open that portal, it clearly was a bad idea!

Nice to have Data back, albeit briefly.

Hated that Picard was made a synthetic, without any consultation from anyone. He should have been able to choose whether he wanted that done to him.

Overall despite more action in this one, I wasn't impressed.

crazy_diamond 03-28-2020 04:15 AM

^ ITA Claire :high_five:, it really really :censored: me off that Picard became a synthetic. The person who his TNG crew called family died and no one knew about it

Chris 03-28-2020 07:33 AM

Claire - I wondered about what happened to Narek too. Agree that Picard should have been consulted about whether he wanted to become a synth.

While I enjoyed seeing Riker again, and as captain of a starship, was it realistic to have him be the one in charge of the fleet?

I stuck through the season hoping that they'd win me over. Can't say that they did.

Well ones must say those new androids are pretty much humans and not actualy machines since they're fully biologic hence they aren't really artificial life, neither the new picard nor soji. But yes it's a bit weird.

I think I'm looking much more forward to discovery season 3 than picard season 2. Only things in picard I'm looking forward to are likely cameos of Worf and The Doctor.

Chris 03-28-2020 12:56 PM

I'm really looking forward to the 3rd season of Discovery too. At this point I can't find much enthusiasm for the 2nd season of Picard.
