TFTNT Chris :)

Oo part 1..

Chris 03-18-2020 06:00 AM

 I debated whether to have a combined thread since it's a 2 parter.

Arrakis 03-18-2020 06:15 AM

I'll maybe wait to see both episodes at once.

ChakotaysLover 03-19-2020 04:05 PM

I watched it! Couldn't wait to see both parts together!

Only this episode on Prime so far, so this is all I've seen.

I want to like this show I really do, but I completely tuned out and paid little attention to it. I'm bored by this show, and there's no getting away from that.

The problem is alex kurtzman and his disdain for star trek. I think he once said he doesn't like the classic approaches to the story and didn't feel they'd inspire young people so of course he changed everything and I think CBS shouldn't have let him do that, they should've searched for a showrunner who has more respect for established characters and canon and is a fan of the classic trek runs.

Meliana 03-20-2020 10:04 AM

Maybe that's the reason. I don't think young people will go for characters spending the entire episode talking about their feelings though.

Chris 03-20-2020 12:40 PM

Closes eyes … I haven't watched yet. Might wait until next week and watch both episodes together.

I feel exactly the same Claire

I thought since this was part 1 of a finale, it would be a good bit of action with good character scenes, but there was nothing really.

Only part really was of interested was Picard telling them about his condition, still nothing mentioning Beverly

The scenes bored me, I just zoned out...

Meliana 03-21-2020 02:45 AM

I'm glad it wasn't just me. The slow build up has had no pay off and the majority of the time it's like a badly written soap opera. Where is the action and plot? What we liked about Star Trek is our characters in desperate situations, trying to find a way to survive. The lengthy conversations and hand-wringing shouldn't be the main meat of the episode.

crazy_diamond 03-21-2020 04:37 AM

ITA Claire! :high_five:

Arrakis 03-21-2020 07:44 AM

Hopeully they'll get a new writing team for next season.

crazy_diamond 03-21-2020 01:49 PM

Hope so
