Completely agree. people will always want a scapegoat for their personal misfortunes.

ETA - no, haven't watched the preview for next week.

I like this aspect that’s already being started it’s ugly prejudice and racism but at the same time curious to see what they do with it

As a core of Star Trek ... can’t really recall them diving directly into it so curious to see what the plan is for the series

Previous series have touched on racism and prejudice still being an issue. The one the pops into my mind is the TOS episode where people who were white on one half being superior to those who were white on the other half of their body.

From the Recap:
Quote:
Embedded in this is a more subtle revelation, but perhaps an unsurprising one — it seems as though both Zhaban and Laris are former Tal Shiar (and that it’s a family affair for Zhaban). It actually makes sense that they are present not just as Jean-Luc’s caretakers but, given what we know about his departure from Starfleet, his bodyguards as well.
I never thought about Laris and Zhaban potentially being body guards for Picard.

Ah right but not exactly as a main focus but an episode here or there

That shreds so much light and didn’t think bodyguards but more like refugees that he had as caregivers/housemaids but the idea of bodyguards ... though if bodyguards, wouldn’t he take one or both of them along where he told him to stay behind

- OK I love Laris, there I said it . The snark and attitude is great, and lovely that she cares so much for Picard. Glad we found out a little bit more info about her.
- Growing to love Zhaban too. I feel that he is the calming influence between Laris and Picard if they get into an argument , and looking out for Picard too.. Him mentioning Riker, Worf and LaForge
I adore Laris! When she launched into a conspiracy theory, Picard was all set to listen. Zhaban was like "Here we go..." Laris just gives him a look and continues on with her Romulan Conspiracy theory! I LOVED IT! lol!

Now I wonder if the young bearded Romulan really lost his brother or he just thought that was a good pick-up line for chicks?

I think it’s true but will just have to wait and see if we find out whether it’s true or fake

We might never find out for sure since we don't always get a lot of background family information.

Also his sister is so funny! I asked myself why they didn't disguise her as a Vulcan, would be much easier in case she got scanned. But then she's too emotional to portray a Vulcan. I guess the Romulan empire just doesn't have the same pool of operative material since the super nova so they have to rely on these two misfits, a womanizing sloppy dude and his angry older sister.

Yeah, she'd give herself away in no time.
