- Saru's, and later Nhan's astonishment and pleasure that their home planets had joined the Federation

- they certainly weren't welcomed with open arms. The Admiral was so dismissive of their offers to help. True to their characters, Saru tried to be conciliatory while Michael got all defensive

- Jett had some great one liners: "it was raining Starfleet officers" & " do you have any snacks?"

LOVED those scenes! "you broke my holos"

- the interrogator shoed that he totally understood Phillipa when he said he'd only really find out something about her by what questions she asked.

- LOVED the scene in engineering with Willow, Stamets, Reno & Tilly
"your relationship isn't very professional" & "dysfunction aside, you all make a pretty good team"

- Nhan - "just because you don't understand a choice doesn't make it irrational"
- Michael - "sometimes there is no good choice, only what you can live with"

- Why do I think that solving the mystery of the music will be a big clue as to what really caused the burn?

Overall I thought it was a good episode. It totally makes sense that Starfleet would want to check them out rather than just taking them at their word. Liked Saru convincing the Admiral that leaving the Discovery crew together would be the best way to get a different perspective. Also that Saru asked Michael to be more respectful towards the Admiral.

ETA - Kovich was portrayed by David Cronenberg. Thought I recognized him.

Yep. It doesn't always take the latest technology to get things done.

The Discovery crew certainly showed Lt. Willa what they could do!
