I didn't mind the episode. It's probably realistic that Burnham and the Discovery didn't come through at exactly the same time, especially when Burnham collided with Book's ship.
"Stop calling me rocket girl" ! :goof:  Thought it was a good introduction to Book, and to the way things are at this point in time. It was nice to see a variety of established species. Especially Andorrians, and a Morn from DS9. Quote:
Loved that Burnham officially commissioned the fellow holding down the fort at the Federation office and made him communications officer. |
She sure was
Wonderful end scene |
Michael and Book! Two scenes and I'm already shipping it! :thud:
|
I think it's a good season opener. I hope we see more of the cute cat.
I was a bit disappointed that they were going TOS-style with the Andorians. I loved the ENT-Andorians with moving antennae. Seems like the Ready Room is only for the US, I can't watch it. :( But here's the link: http://facebook.com/StarTrekCBS/videos/364107931305331/ |
loved it! Great new characters, the right amount of humour and the story, so moving! Made me cry already

Rita - agree that we've already seen some nice chemistry between Michael & Book. Don't think he expected her to be able to defend herself so well. Really hope to see more of them next week. When Book gave up the code so easily that uncloaked his ship, I thought there would be some defensive measure, but never expected that. |

I thought that giant worm was actually the cat...lol....like in Captain Marvel with the cat being a carnivore alien Book seems like the Han Solo type character of ST Discovery. I wonder if that was filmed during early Pandamic...it was just mainly those 2 in the epp.... |
Dave - they finished filming in early March, just before all the travel restrictions went into effect.
that giant worm was something else when it was in attack mode! Then Book called it off, and it got all cute and cuddly. I think I remember reading about them filming in Iceland? Some of the scenes sure reminded me of Iceland. |
The landscape was marvelous! I always love it when they really go to an outside location. (And I'm glad they didn't use the rock from Kirk's Gorn fight again, that would have been too often after Picard.)
|
I can believe that is Iceland it did look very volcanic.

I'm still getting a chuckle thinking of Michael being so hyper on the truth serum.:goof: |

I hope we get to see more creatures in season 3.... and the end trailer did spoil a lot....if you watch it carefully that was a fun side of Michael that we've never seen...giddy and talkative with Truth serum... |
Michael's expressions were
|
 Sonequa really had a chance to show her acting skills in that scene.
|
I thought it was a bit too much emotional rollercoster for a season opener, but that's probably more a writing/plotting issue than her acting.
Btw, found a Ready Room link that works for my region: https://www.facebook.com/StarTrek/vi...64116234637834 |
