I found Burnham likable enough. I like Georgiou, but not sure about her as Captain. Don't know enough about the rest of them yet to really form an opinion.

They are certainly both interesting. I don't get the name 'Michael' though

I just finished watching the first episode. I like Saru, having a spine come out of his neck when he was scared was a nice touch. As was his race's back story as a livestock race. More could be said about Michael Burnham's Vulcan links. I liked the look at Klingon culture and rituals. The celts used to eat their dead, this would be in line with Klingon barbarism. Perhaps the writers missed a trick here. I can't wait for the next episode.

That was an interesting twist. Welcome to the board!

Rita - I've known a female Michael, but it is unusual. Perhaps it was partly a device to keep us confused regarding the casting beforehand?

I haven't seen it yet but the way you guys describe it, it seems a little disappointing. I guess to be less disappointed it's better to see this as part of the kelvin timeline and not of the prime one (even though they said otherwise). Bc then the klingons fit quite well just as the ship design and everything else.

I just feel that there's NO WAY at all that it could be in the Kelvin timeline it could only be Prime Young!Sarek indicating this is probably before Spock is even born, so in between Enterprise and ToS

Just watching now cause didn't get a chance Sunday

ETA surprisingly a lot better than I thought it would be

It seemed like the Prime timeline to me too.

I'm looking forward to learning more about the various bridge crew.

Makes sense but would be cool to see a show based on "The Kelvin [alternate universe]"

Yea its gonna be Michael being assigned to prison for rest of life but than it looks like Discovery is meant to be a "prison ship" but than some of the crewmembers from the original ship are there

Looks like its gonna be intense but still very unsure

Well I got bits about how it seems that Michael's parents were killed by Klingons so thinking after that happened she devoted herself to Vulcan ways probably happened at a young age and threw herself into her studies, must have been a straight A+ study to have been accepted into the Vulcan Acadamy, first human
