Couples - What was your first ship?

Just out of curiousity, what was the first couple you really fell for and why? Did it go well for you, or end up badly, and do you still ship them or similar couples?

My first real couple was Harry and Hermione from Harry Potter.

That was what introduced me to online fandoms in the first place, really. Obviously though, my ship didn't do so well in the end. I loved them because for a middle school student, they were supposed to be together. They were the hero and his heroine. But as I got older, I kept with it because I thought they complimented each other so well and had really great friendship moments that showed understanding between them. I don't really actively ship them anymore, since HP ended and JKR left the ending as she did. (

I wasn't a fan of the last two books) As for the types of couples I ship, I do like a few relationships where I hope friendship turns into more, like Jim and Pam from The Office. But I've also expanded my shipping tendencies, and enjoy other types like bantering ships such as Logan/Veronica from Veronica Mars, or Cook/Naomi from Skins.

What about everyone else?

Buffy/Angel. I loved them from the very beginning when the show premiered in 1997. I was a very young teen at the time and of course had no idea what 'shipping' even was but I just knew I loved them and would always love them. I spent the rest of my teen years, watching them on my screen, through all the moments that made my heart leap and the tears flow. There was something about them that drew me to them. Something more than chemistry and some simple connection. Something much greater. I know it's 'cliche', a vampire and a vampire slayer falling in love but she gave him a purpose, a reason to live, to become somebody and he was the one true thing in her life that made sense. Basically in a world of darkness, their love was pure and beautiful. And at the same time, they are the ship you thank for breaking your heart into a million pieces, because despite it all, it only cements how deep their love really goes. And when they were on separate shows, and with other people, time and time again would show you that their connection still remained, and that it is something that could never die. No, they didn't end up together but the thing is.... their story never really ended either.

Nice choice with Harry/Hermione.

The first ever couple for me was Cordy/Angel from Angel The Series. I found myself wanting them to hook up before I even knew of online fandom or what shipping even was. I think the catalyst moment was when he was questioning her date in in season one's The Bachelor Party, I sensed the tiniest hint of posessiveness and jealousy under the protectiveness. And from there it pretty much grew legs and ran, I was OBSESSED with them back in the day, and even for a while after the show ended. They'll always be special to me because of the fact that they taught me what shipping was and got me started on this whole crazy journey.

Not sure, actually, but I think it was Ally/Larry from Ally McBeal. Although at the time, I had no idea what shipping was

I didn't even know there was online fandoms at the time, hehe. It didn't end up well, because Robertt Downey Jr got fired from the show because of his drug problem so they had Larry move to Detroit where he had his son and his ex. I don't think he got back together with her. If it hadn't been for the drugs, Ally an d Larry would have gotten married in thethat pretty much sucks

Ah, my first ship ever, before I knew the meaning of the word was Nick and Jade from the Australian soap drama Home and Away. I was like in my early, early teens, like 11, and I just fell completely in love with them, he was dating her more popular, outgoing twin sister and after a night of just talking, they kinda fell for each other. And the show made us wait ages until they properly got together and they remained one of the sweetest, most stable couples on the show for a couple of yrs, in a show that went through their cast and couples like crazy. They overcame so much together, perfect first loves, but their break up was so uber contrived because he was leaving the show. Anyways, I firmly believe that somehow they found their way back together

. I still always think back to them when i think of my early ships

Awwww my gosh I remember Nick/Jade from H&A, I didn't realise I've been watching the show for that long.

And now her twin sister is back on the show and I kinda ship her and Miles.

Ric/Matilda was my special ship for H&A though.

I used to love Jessie/Selena off Home & Away but that was way back.

My first real ship would have been Brandon/Kelly from 90210 I guess.

I don't like them as much as I used to but I still enjoy them.

Erm, long story.

Kirsty came back with their kid not too long ago and hooked up with Miles (Sally's bother) for a while. Then Kane came back for a bit and she left with him again after a misunderstanding of thinking Miles didn't want to be with her. But then just last week she came back again, minus Kane, who'd kinda taken their son hostage.

And this week he comes back with the kid but apparently leaves again for good, leaving Kirsty and Oliver (their son) in the bay. And I don't know what's going to happen now.

I'm in the UK, so I'm a bit behind Australia.
