Season 6 she confides in him and they almost begin a friendship. Their attraction though ruins it. The early episodes of the season were light between them. Things didn't begin to get dark until after Buffy kissed him. She pushed him away and he wouldn't leave her alone. She was mean and that made him mad. So the fighting of course turned to sex. Fighting is foreplay for them. After of course Buffy is gonna push him away more than ever! She has so many issues already before you add the vampire/slayer stuff. She couldn't fall for him. Buffy being mean was the only way she knew how to push him away. So of course things for Spuffy were only going to go down hill from there.
The thing is Buffy had the best sex she ever had and Spike made her feel alive. She tried to stay away but couldn't. They were addicted to each other. The relationship was unhealthy. Buffy though even admits that she does have feelings for him in Seeing Red though but Spike keeps pushing wanting her to admit she loved him and that is what culminated in The AR happening. Spuffy had been playing with Fire and Sometimes that means you're gonna get burnt. They did and that's what made Spike realize he needed the soul. __________________
