Bash is offering to be a soldier and a protector for her at a time she feels alone and backed into a corner and scared of Henry. Of course she's going to hold onto him.

It's not shipper goggles. I've seen nonshippers come to the same conclusions. I've seen more than one post on the TWOP thread believing that Bash is about to go batcrap crazy. This is not some romantic "twu wuv" story. There are warning signs here. Danger signs that Mary is ignoring because, frankly, she has no other choice at the moment.

Regarding the "perfect choice" comment. I thought that was clearly directed at Catherine and intended to wound Catherine. And Catherine reacts accordingly. Mary's emotions and focus are so much more centered on and around Catherine then they are on Bash in this episode. If she is feeling exhilarated, it's because of her racing Catherine to see which can kill the other first. Bash is focused on her when she says he's her perfect choice but Mary is yelling it at Catherine. And why is he her perfect choice? Because together they have killed Catherine. They are a destructive force. And what does Catherine say about Bash? He has secrets. He will ruin Mary. What did she say about Frary? Mary is perfect for Francis. They are equals in every way. This stuff is put in by the writers on purpose. And they are peppering Mash with ominous signs.

Completely agree, Amanda. And you & I have been much more right than wrong during this arc. I'd say with the writing of Gambit I've mostly been off on context & not thinking they would go as far as they would with bash last episode.

I know both of us try to follow story/textual clues along with our own logic as to where the story is going. It hasn't steered us wrong yet.

I'll shut up, since I have to write spec analysis after you post the premise & evidentiary clues.

Well said. This is exactly what I was picking up on during 1x11 as well. The whole time I was just like why can no one inside this show see that Mary is so sad and depressed right now?

I agree with everything you have said, I espcially love the part you exlain about what Catherine says about Frary and what she says about Mash. I've actually never thought to put them beside each other and see the differences.
