She acknowledged that they were like a family and almost like an old married couple in S7 Buffy/Angel never reached that level in their relationship. It wasn't because Angel sacrificed his epic love wanting her to have a normal life or because they couldn't have sex. Spike and Buffy didn't have sex in S7 and Spike was willing to let her be happy with another man if that was what she wanted, but he still sticked around and Buffy chose to try and build a real relationship with him.

Saw this thread a couple of days ago and went on youtube to watch some of their best scenes!! So good, made me remember how much I used to love them back then. I mean, it certainly helps that I have a thing for men with accents. So good.

I love that he probably felt the strength of her emotions and her love, even though he didn't believe her. Which makes their ending so beautiful: he was loved but he was not asking for it, he was willing to die for her and for theworld anyway. That is what I call true and selfless love

I think after thinking about it over and over I came to the conclusion that he didn't, but I love reading the other interpretations of that scene about that she did.

I love how Spike was honest with Buffy in season 7, about his and her relationship too. I love how the soul made him see things differently but also since it made him more human, it made him more insecure. That is I think one of the reasons why I don't think he believed her.

Well I think after the way he hurt Buffy. That he felt like he could never deserve her.

I love that Buffy was jealous and then Spike says another girl could never mean anything to him.

Yes, he got more insecure as season 7 progressed because with his soul human nature came back to him. And now he was just a man, with human desires and fears. While as a vampire he always wanted to feel more he didn't see things the way humans see them. Once he got his soul back he got his humanity back completely. And all the guilt he had to carry after what he almost did to Buffy and what he did to so many people mixed with his insecurities and law self esteem. Which I believe let him to the point where he just couldn't believe he deserved to be loved. And as much sad it might be, I love that Joss did not ignore those issues because it would have been unrealistic for Spike to get over them so fast.
