Definately one of the greatest couples of all time. Who here read the book?

I can't there's a thread for them! I've loved them for sooo long.
I remember when there was talks a while about about the book Scarlett and the idea of remaking a movie. I know it's next to impossible to re-create such a dazzling film! But for fun, if you had to cast the roles for Rhett and Scarlett who would you pick? Well for Rhett it would have to be someone older who could pull off that sarcasm. My first thought? George Clooney. I know, it's strange, but I think he'd be perfect. If you've seen him in O Brother Where Art Thou and Out of Sight, you'll notice his great range. Man, that film Out of Sight has Clooney at his most charming. A really underrated, but addictive movie. For Scarlett? That's even harder! Who could play this feisty southern belle? Well, I'm imagining someone a bit younger, since in the book Scarlett and Rhett were kind of distant in age. It was the 1800s, so young bride/older man wasn't unusual. Well, the only one I can think of right now is Charisma Carpenter. I only say this because I noticed how well she made the whole transition of Cordelia from Buffy to Angel. I really grew to love her, and even in the beginning (despite her snotty behavior), you could tell she wasn't all that bad. Now for Ashlee Wilkes? LOL. I don't know why, but I pictured Chad Michael Murray. He's cute, and I could easily see girls falling for him. That's all I could muster for now... What do you guys think? Who would you pick? __________________

Wow, those are all really good choices!!
For Scarlett, perhaps Rose Byrne could be among the choices, as well. She's very gorgeous in the way that Vivien Leigh was, but she also plays feisty characters very well...I think you nailed it with George Clooney, though. He and Gable have a similar look and style. Ahhh, I love these two. They are smokin'. I've never read the book, but I've seen the movie a few times and love them. I really do need to read the book, though, I keep hearing how fabulous it is. Happy Holidays! __________________

Hmm. Recasting for a remake? Very good question. I need to give it some thought before answering. __________________

Argh, I was thinking about getting the book tonight (I have a Barnes and Noble gift card from my cousin) but I decided against it. Should I get it, is it worth it?

Haha, wanna hear something funny? So I actually bought the book on Tuesday, a day after I made the above message...and I read the book in SIX DAYS! I'm crazy! But it was SO GOOD. I'd have to say, seriously, it's the best book I've ever read...I used to read a lot more than I used to, and GwtW has made me a bookworm again.
Scarlett and Rhett...do you guys think they ever got back together? __________________

A change of tradition has come.
From now on, threads will be closed after approx. 300 posts instead of the 250 posts we're used to. This change/new rule is decided by the admins of FF, and since I know y'all are used to the 250 mark by now I thought I'd let you know about the change. Thank you. __________________

Scarlett and Rhett were a classic movie couple. I absolutely loved them together. That was such an incredibly good movie as well. One of my favorites. Vivian Leigh is so beautiful. I always wanted to be her. I adored all the dresses she wore. And of course, Clark Gable is very handsome.
I actually had to watch the movie and write a report on it for school. I totally fell in love with it after that. And yes, I have read the book as well. There is also a sequel to the book. I forget the exact name of it but it's a really good book. There was also that miniseries called Scarlett, which was pretty good. Hmm...recasting for a remake?? I have acutally thought about that before. Catherine Zeta Jones is the first woman to come to mind. I think she would make a beautiful Scarlett. Charisma Carpentar would be okay I guess, but I don't think her acting ability is all that great. As for Rhett, I don't really no. I have to think on that one. |

yup, the movie is absolutely awesome too. This is a case where I love the book and movie equally, and that doesn't happen very often.

Not sure I would appreciate a remake of this movie, since I really love the original movie. One of the best adaptions of a book ever in my opinion.

Hello.
Oh, I've been toying with the idea of re-casting the characters of GWTW for a while now (in my head, because obviously I can't). Anyway, heres my little idea for Rhett, because he would be perfect! Rhett: The all time sexy beast...Johnny Depp. __________________

Johnny is a fine actor (one of my favourites!) and he's pretty good at accents too so I think he'd do a fine job in the role.

Any role with Johnny Depp is good. Plus when you see his hair slicked back in Finding Neverland he's got whole Rhett Butler look about him (Even the ears )
I'm still thinking about Scarlette.... __________________
