I fully encourage everyone here to watch SW. I mean, come on guys! Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda... You're missing out on the epicness people!

I love the LotR movies, still have to read the books though. I had a hard time trying to stay focused/interest in the Fellowship of the Ring. Could never get past the first chapters, Tolkien wastes too much time talking about Frodo's hobbitts neighbors imo.

Ugh so true. I don't even consider them when I talk of SW, it's always the second trilogy!

Thanks for the recommendation. When I see just how much it means to you and a lot of people here, I am really curious to give it a try. I would like to go with the books first because JKR seems to have some really interesting ideas and I'd like to "hear" them from her first, but the number and the size of them is tbh putting me off a bit, because I already have tons of huge books I'd like to read, but I'm aware that I'll never find time or will to actually do it. So the movies are probably the better option if I decide to check it out one day.
This. I haven't seen the movies (I tried, but they are way too long for my mind not to wander off at some point ) but I really wanted to read the books. And much though his style is beautiful and the mythology impressive, I got lost and quit.

She created a whole new world, her imagination and storytelling are amazing I'm not even a fan of the movies, tend to avoid them mostly, a lot of things I dislike in the movies. But the books Reading them wouldn't take much of your time I guess
