I see them living in a big city somewhere for two reasons

1. They've probably had enough of living in a small town and want some adventures

and

2. They'd want to blend in as much as possible, which would be pretty hard in a small town

Maybe California or Washington??

If there was a season 4, I'd like to see Michael and Maria become sucessful, maybe opening a detective agency??! Once they had the FBI off their backs of course!

Let's say three; For me I see Maria bringing her guitar, pics of the people she loves, and maybe cedar oil. Michael would bring his Metallica CD since the aliens can listen to music without a, how do you call it ? sorry, I forgot the word.



Nat, California is a good place for them. It's sunny, just like they are used to, and there's a free spirit mentality. Well, that's how I see it. So they would be comfortable there.

Eek - I'm behind in posting episode comments here. A few quick thoughts on my rewatch of The Convention:

This is definitely Valenti's episode. We get to see him go through so much self-searching and so many different emotions in this episode, from his initial distrust of Hubble through reluctantly opening up to him (and interesting to see Valenti on the receiving end of the type of emotional manipulation he's tried on others, such as Maria and Mrs. Evans), to realization of what Hubble had done and how much danger he's put Max in because of it. As always, William Sadler did an awesome job with the range of emotions Valenti goes through in this episode.

The confrontation with Hubble, and then Max, is really the turning-point for Valenti's character. For the first time since the Crashdown shooting, Valenti sees Max as an innocent, one of the citizens he's supposed to be protecting. Seeing how out-of-control Hubble is, and how Max is in danger because Valenti helped put Hubble on Max's trail starts it, and then Max's words about how Valenti's the sheriff and he's supposed to be protecting him seals the deal. Valenti is forced to come face to face with how he's been behaving and what he's been doing, and he doesn't like what he sees. It's the first step towards becoming the kids' protector. (Not only does he shoot Hubble, which could easily be explained as a justifiable shooting since he was threatening an unarmed teen, but Valenti protects Max and Michael from any other suspicion by telling them to get out of there. That they were never there. No more alien hunters were going to get suspicious by wondering why Hubble went after Max. And this omission is what eventually causes suspicion of the shooting.)

Something occurred to me while rewatching - apparently Nasedo, even while wandering, always returned to the Roswell area. He was there for Atherton's killing in the 50s, then again in 1972 for Sheila Hubble (assuming it was the same shapeshifter). Then again when Tess came out of the pods. Was he checking up on the pods? Or had he stayed close, but after Sheila Hubble's death that was when he got out of town?

The Michael/Maria stuff with Amy was cute. Michael really is a softie when it comes to the DeLuca women. It's interesting how M&M was often portrayed as being just physical, that their relationship wasn't as serious as Max and Liz's (not an opinion I leaned towards, but there were some who did), yet in this episode they're portrayed the same, with both Michael and Max seeing their respective others in slow motion. But Mud? Poor Maria.

Alex and Isabel had a cute little moment, with Alex trying to pretend he just happened to be there at the UFO Convention and Maria busting him by commenting about how he'd been looking all over for Isabel. But it's sad when later Isabel tells him that while she wants to be friends, he's suffocating her. I feel badly for both of them in that scene. Isabel does like him, but she's made it clear that she feels they can't date, and she doesn't want to lead him on. While I respect that she doesn't play games with Alex, I still feel badly for him - he's so disappointed.

Although it does lead to the cute scene in the Crashdown where Alex is caught in the midst of the girls ranting about male obsessions.

I just love the idea of the aliens going to an Alien Convention. Especially having Max working at it. And I always get the sense that Jonathan Frakes must have been having fun with this ep.

Hubble was creepy.

Anla - Loving your thoughts as always. Valenti definitely was the main star of this episode for me, he was finally realising that maybe Max Evans wasn't someone who was dangerous, maybe he was someone who needed protecting. I think the part where Max mentions Kyle ('Would you treat your son this way?') was the part where Valenti realised that.

My favourite part was definitely the M/M scenes though (surprise surprise!), I liked how he pretended he didn't really care ('why would I want to make an impression') when he was talking to Maria and Amy showed up, but then he still saw Maria in slow motion and still helped her out when he overheard Amy on the phone, yeah Michael you just keep pretending that you don't care!

Another great part was Alex with all the women at the Crashdown and Isabels 'you realise that we've just lost our last shred of dignity' when she saw Max in the alien suit

And Anla you're right, Hubble was very creepy

True. I never know if Michael is in denial (why would I want to make an impression ?) or if he really thinks that and then changes his mind. I like to believe that he was in denial. That he really thought he was a stonewall and didn't care what Amy thought about him, while in fact, he did. She was Maria's mother, after all, not a nobody.
