Matilda/Ric (H&A) #1: Because four years was worth the wait!
 Welcome to the Ric and Matilda appreciation thread! A couple who waited four long years before being paired up on the Australian show Home and Away. Her twin brother faced the brunt of the harassment and Matilda tried to find out reasons why Ric was doing this. It all came to a realisation that not only was his father beating him up at home, but that he was also Alf Stewarts unknown grandchild. When his father had a heart attack, Ric was taken in by foster parents Sally Fletcher and Flynn Saunders. There his friendship grew with Matilda into something that could have easily been more; had it not been for Matilda's mother warning him off. They went their separate ways in a romantic sense although still remained close friends and dated others along their path, but after all these years their feelings returned in full force and they did what had been attempted years before that - they started a relationship. And so far their romance has blossomed on Home and Away into something deep and honest. They've shared their highs and lows with one another, intimacy and like all couples, disagreements and forgiveness: all of that put together and you have one amazing pair!      Reasons why we love them: He was her first. His feelings for her never went away. Because 'the right one is out there' and she is his right one! She wanted to be with him. He listened to her when she talked about Beth. Because they were friends before they got into a relationship. They hold hands when walking down the beach. They always reach over to hold each others hands. Aww. Because he didn't want to rush into sex. Because she snuck into his room and they were caught in the morning! When they fight, you can tell its hurting them. He plays with her hair. He resized her mothers engagement ring for her.  Add me! I have always been a shipper of these two ever since they liked each other in the beginning, and waited all throughout the Cassie drama.. for them to get together |

I know,i have never been a Cassie fan. She was just an obstacle in their way. A few years ago when Ric said that he might have feelings for her... and Mattie told him... that he prob thought he did because they have a close friendship... and he just accepted it... i felt like yelling "She is just saying that you idiot" he seemed to accept that explanation too easily.

I know they've changed so much!
I reckon its really good that Home and Away hire younger actors because you get to see them grow over the years. They were just so young in that cap!  __________________

Personally, I prefer Matilda/Lucas - but Matilda/Ric have had some cute scenes. Ric can really be adorable at times

 Hey provocative. I'm not a big fan of Matilda/Lucas myself, I thought they were cute in the beginning but my favourite couple is still Ric and Mattie.  Where are you up to in Home and Away?  __________________

Here in the UK we just recently had the episode where they finally spent the night together and Tony found out. I laughed my arse off when Ric went to the bar to get drinks not long after that and Tony gave him the whole "If you ever hurt her...." speech and he looked so freaked. I never miss an ep and I think R/M are the most adorable pair ever.  |

Hey ~Catrina~! Oh my god, I loved those two episodes where they were trying to sneak around the parents. It was the funniest thing! Especially when Sally and Brad were doing basically trying to do the same thing.  Anyway, I'll go and add you to the list. __________________

I just love how they got together, best friends for so many years and finally a couple, I adore that whole dynamic in my ships. Plus, Ric is like the most amazing guy, I want one of him for myself. |
