MARK/JUNO Appreciation Thread

Watched this movie yesterday - enjoyed it very much, i have to say Mark/Juno's friendship/relationship got to me the most, and how it sort of developed, dont get me wrong i think the writer got it right when they had Juno/Bleaker at the end but i was interested in Mark/Juno

Some cute and sweet scenes between them sharing love of music, movies and fun which Mark didnt have with Vanessa, thought the dance scene was very well done and how it came across on screen and Mark saying "There's something between us" (minus the obvious bulge physically between them), "What do I mean to you - why are you always coming over?"

* Upon taking the ultrasound pictures to Mark, Juno realises that she has a lot in common with him (guitar playing and a liking for slasher movies) and an odd friendship is born. It's a relationship that you can't help feeling uncomfortable about as the film progresses as it makes you wonder where it's all going to end up.

* Jason Bateman is very good as Mark Loring. You get the sense of fear from him that his youth has escaped him and he can no longer do the things he loves in life. Most of his cherished, pre-marriage possessions are either bundled away in a small room or in boxes that have been packed away. The spark that Juno brings back into his life on serves as another reminder of the person he was - and is no longer since his marriage to Vanessa.

Juno (2007) - Review - D'YOU KNOW JUNO???

* To Mark, Juno represents everything he wants (aka fun, music, movies, etc) but can't have because of his stifled marriage and, more importantly, his refusal to grow up. He sees her as a person, instead of a means to an end like Vanessa sees her.

*Mark and Juno find themselves alone (again!) in the house and start dancing, reminiscing about Mark's prom. Juno finds herself in the place of a girl that Mark danced with years ago, mimicking this girl's dancing motions and hand placement for him as he relives his childhood experience through her, This is Mark's last feeling of true happiness in the film: dancing in his room full of stuff that Vanessa doesn't approve of with a girl who is compatible with him on every level except age.

* For proof that he wouldn't make a move on her, watch the scene again - it's Mark who stops the dance by revealing that he wants a divorce from Vanessa. "I thought you'd be cool with this!" he says, hoping more for an encouraging response from his newfound friend than a confession of love from her. He has found a kindred spirit in Juno and didn't want to give it up, although he knew it was necessary.

* I thought this was one of the most moving scenes (dance scene) in the film. It reminds us of "forbidden" love but a true connection nonetheless.

When I saw the movie, I thought 'damn these two have some intense chemistry' and then I felt a little weird about it. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one

Juno/Bleaker was an adorable couple but there was definitely something about Mark/Juno that made me take notice.

Yeah, definately also the fact that i like Jason Bateman makes a difference lol

I think it lovely how Mark/Juno were, and how much they had in common etc

I thought I was the only person in the world who adored Mark/Juno over Bleeker/Juno. I completely agree with you on the fact that the latter was the absolute right way to go... but they didn't capture my attention at all.

Whether you adore Mark/Juno in the shippy sense or as two people who were able to emphasize with each other, I think it's safe to admit they shared an indescribable connection.

I've been searching for someone to come out of the shy shadows and muster up the challenge of writing Mark/Juno.

I think the dance scene could of gone so many ways like we could have seen a kiss, but Mark decided to give his news first

I thought they were going to hook up too. They had some major chemistry and Ellen and Jason played off each other so well.

I loved Juno/Bleacker but I can't deny that their was some amazing chemistry between Mark/Juno. I could definitely feel the bond between them and really loved their scenes together. I'm glad that there's a thread for them.

? I saw the movie today for the first time and their relationship was definitely the best part in my opinion.
