The last scene in that ep is so sad.. they didn't leave things on the good side when Chris left. Or the angst in season 5's 'Wedding Bell Blues'. That was just evil, to make him the bad guy!

Do I need to say it? I was pretty upset with the way they handled the whole Luke/Lorelai/Chris/Emily/Richard thing in WBB. The only thing is that it ended up vilanizing everyone, not just one or two people. Still though...

I don't think Chris was the bad guy in "ISHBL". It was more a case of he was a guy who was very hurt that the woman he loves could even entertain the idea of getting over him. And, that that said women could think that he himself had moved on (when in his heart he was just settling cos he thought she didn't want him). As well he was upset in the last scene cos Lor was finally admitting that there were actual feelings there - feelings she had always before tried to deny. And yes, underneath he did also know he played a role in Lorelai and him never getting together cos he floated around for years. Either way, it was deep hurt due to love that made him react the way he did.

For Lorelai's part underneath she was very much trying to absolve herself of any culpability in her and Chris not getting together after Emily blamed her. Lorelai herself did know full well tho that she was always running away and putting the breaks on her relationship with Chris. Her "I was waiting for you" was primarily to make herself feel less guilty. She was also trying to convince Chris and herself that she could get over him, but of course nothing could be less achievable. Love and longing basically was tearing our couple apart inside. They were both suffering immensely. No one was bad or mean, they were just upset over not being able to be together. This was due to their own fears, insecurity, and bad timing.

Caitlin- Yep, you spelt my name right. I hated all the stops and starts too. However, if they get together in the end it makes for a beautiful love story. They wont end up together tho, and all their stops and starts will just be counted as amusement before L/L could get their go.
