I so agree with everyone, that the Season ending cliffhanger, needs to be Deacon and Rayna and I suspect it will center around Maddie's paternity.

I can see a scenario, in which they both acknowledge their feelings, as someone else said, and want to, at least, give being together a shot. Maybe they reconnect as lovers, maybe, they're not there, yet; but, they both know, that's where they want to be.

And then the Maddie bomb.

I can see Rayna realizing that there is just no way that she can be in a relationship with Deacon, and keep that secret. It would always be there between them, preventing them from really being open and honest and really connecting. So, she tells him.

I can see someone, somehow finding out the truth, or, knowing the truth (Lamar, Tandy), and for their own agenda, telling Deacon.

I can see Deacon, finally connecting the dots, questioning Maddie's papahood, and confronting Rayna with his questions and suspicions. (If the girls spend much time on tour, with Rayna, maybe Deacon spends some time with Maddie, and how great would that be to see, and starts really thinking about the timeline, and the possibility.)

It's not going to be easy and it's not going to be easy for Maddie. She's at a tough age, anyway. Her world as she knew it, is already in flux, and if she learns the truth, she's going to feel her Parent's have lied to her, her entire life. It may have be en with the best of intentions, but, in fact they have.

And what about this accident thing, in Deacon's past? I can't imagine all of this coming out, in a cliffhanger, just a little too much, but, I wonder, does Rayna know about that, is it somehow tied into the Maddie situation? It doesn't seem likely, but, maybe, if she knows, it was another part of her decision, all those years ago, not to tell Deacon?

Deacon was somehow responsible for a /car?) accident back in the day with a guy named Vince who was also very close to Rayna, and he died.Sth like that.

On an off topic note just watched my hometown Gonzaga Bulldogs, basketball game, at work

The Zags are a #1 seed in the West, and very nearly lost to their #16 seed opponent! Yikes!

I KNOW that Rayna and Deacon would be Zag rooters.

I thought that whole thing with Vince, brought up, by Carmen, was kind of odd.

She said it was 14 years ago, and sounded like she and Deacon, where having "a thing" at the time. But, wouldn't Deacon and Rayna still have been together, then?

Or, had Rayna, basically pulled away from their relationship, but, as she mentioned, to the Interviewers, in the 2nd episode, she and Deacon were still "entangled", even as she was seeing Teddy?

I'm guessing maybe she and Deacon were still, off and on, romantically, because they were still performing together, and couldn't quite let each other go, romantically, either.

I've always wondered, we know that Deacon was in a very dark place, with his substance abuse; we've seen that, love for Rayna or no, he likes a pretty lady; do you think when they were together, that, he was also a cheater?

Booze, the performing, pretty, available women. Do you think he not only cheated on Rayna with the bottle, but, other women as well?

If they get together, at some point, now, I can see him being faithful. But, he was in a very different place, back in the day. What do you think?
