I know all you posted that Magic Bleeds excerpt like 50 years ago, but i was thinking of what could have happened with Curran...

1. old girlfriend showed up pregnant
2. we'll FINALLY get some Curran back story and his family or something or a
challenger is making him hold to some random shapeshifter tradition where you can only marry another shapeshifter.
3. Andrea broke down and told someone about Kate's "parents" (basically impossible)
4. Curran figured out Kate's history himself (he did know about power words)
5. someone is targeting Curran's nearest and dearest and he's protecting her
6. he's being challenged for the right to lead and is afraid it'll get violent with kate involved
7. he got amnesia and no one told her (fat chance i know,)
8. he just did it for ****s and giggles

i'm holding with pregnant girlfriend or nearest and dearest being offed. what do all of you think?

Interesting thoughts/ideas as far as reasons for Curran's behaviour goes

Personally I'm favouring the idea that Curran is trying to protect Kate by keeping his distance and not talking to her/calling her.

He has put a lot of effort to get into her pants so to speak and I can't see him giving up that opportunity easily

She stared at the window, where fastenings of once mighty metal grate jutted sadly into the empty space. “Good call.”

“Thank you, ma’am. I’m trained investigator – that’s just the way we roll.”

Andrea rolled her eyes. “If he did anything, I don’t see it.”

I sighed. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

The phone rang. I sat into my chair and picked it up.

“Are you sitting down?” Curran’s voice asked.

“Yes.”

“Good.”

Yeah, but now with the newest snippet... (and thank you sooooo much for posting it by the way) not so sure.

I had a really random idea that a shifter-thing like Saiman (sp?) might be impersonating Curran but had to throw that out cause obviously the pack would have taken a whiff and executed the impostor.

Demon-posessed? but then again there's never been any mention of demons what so ever and he seemed to be in his right mind with the call....

really makes me want the 4th book out lol.

like you guys said too much effort to just back off.... this is going to bother me for months.

Back when the author used to post random quotes on the site, wasn't there something either Raphael or Andrea said about aggressive behavior during mating or something? or pursuing of a mate? but that still wouldn't make sense to why he was avoiding her... ugh so frustrating....

and yes i would like my name added to the list thing please

btw, is it just me who wonders what Kate's mom's name is?

not to mention, wondering if kate's name has always been kate...

Because if you think about it, if Roland had found Voron and her mother, she would have either A) been killed instantly or B) told him the baby miscarried or C) just gone in for the attack on his eye but it also depends on how old kate was when it happened (i thought she was like a baby) but if she was like 2 or 3 Voron would have had to get new identities and hidden with "kate" or something.

Which also poses the question, if roland is such bad-ass how did voron get away with a baby or child?

How did they hide Kate for so long, if Roland knew she existed? Roland (i think knew kate's mom had been pregnant) would've hunted her down if she existed right?

Ugh i think too much @_@ i'm analyzing all the fun out of this lol, not to mention this is the Kate and Curran thread not randomly burst out with Kate questions thread lol.

I agree about Kate being a baby. I think it's mentioned that her mum & Voron were happy for a few blissful months before her mum leaves to delay Roland. From the few glimpses we got into Kate's childhood I'd say she didn't lead an ordinary life... never stayed too long in one place, on the move most of the time to limit the chance of being recognized for what/whom she is

I think Kate wasn't born; Kate's mum and Voron ran away. And I think it was mentioned that Roland wasn't around when they took off.

He knew and he did hunt her I'd say. Otherwise why should her mum have to delay him in the first place?

I think think the way she grew up/was raised by Voron has a lot to do with her reservations towards Curran. And once she convinced herself that their relationship isn't an illusion, that he really cares etc. the dinner date scene from the next book happens.

In regards to the latest excerpt - I thought the click was maybe the end of the conversation. Like Curran hanging up?
