ღ Jackson "Jax" Teller ღ Played by Charlie Hunnam
Jax Teller is the Vice President of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club's Redwood Original (SAMCRO) chapter based in Charming, California. Jax met Tara Knowles in high school and the two fell madly in love. Their relationship is described by Jax as being "Crazy ****. That I-gotta-be-with-you-every-minute-or-I’m-gonna-kill-myself type of crazy". At 19 Tara chose to leave Charming and Jax chose to stay and focus on the club. Jax married Wendy, but after limited periods of sobriety, he finally left her. Jax and Tara's paths cross again when Tara becomes the attending physician when his son, Abel, is born. Jax never forgot Tara and admits that he married Wendy because he was tired of the endless disconnect and that her face was the only face he saw when he was with other women. Before long, tentative flirting gave way to feelings that had never gone away.

ღ Dr. Tara Knowles ღ Played by Maggie Siff
Tara Knowles is a native of Charming, California and was Jax Teller's high school girlfriend. Their relationship was so intense, that during this era she got a crow tattoo on her lower back representing her connection to SAMCRO. Tara was the youngest woman to ever be branded with the crow. She was arrested in Jax's company at least three times and eventaually chose to leave town, trying to get away from small-town life and the influence of the club. Tara returns to Charming a decade later, but is no longer the trouble teen. She is now a respected surgeon and volunteers her help when Jax's son is born prematurely. Despite wanting to seperate herself from Jax and the club, their passion flames, their chemistry collides and destiny pushes them right back to where they started - with each other.

I agree with the previous posters regarding Lyla and Opie- replacement for Donna, needing comfort, etc.

I also think the Opie enjoys his relationship with Lyla minus the porn because it's "easy". Opie and Donna's relationship in S1 was very stressful, combative, and tense. It's easy to assume it was that way since Opie's release from prison.

They don't have any issues outside of Lyla's porn career. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that's a good thing. One thing that has become a heavy criticism against Opie is the lack of relationship he has with his children. Lyla never challenges Opie to be a better man or a better father.

It's like her character is just an add-on that they never had any investment in, and she exists to be Opie's S/O who causes him angst. Donna had that shtick in S1, and now Lyla has that shtick in S3 and S4.

I don't care for that type of writing. The writing is the same for Ima. Ima is cheap angst for Jax/Tara, and possibly Opie/Lyla. Kristen Renton is a sweet girl with a nice motivational tumblr, but if your character is unnecessary, then your character is unnecessary. A cheap foil.

Spoiler:

If Ima is the one who outs Lyla and Tara, then I hope her tail is wheeled out on a stretcher. I will be so pissed if this cheap foil is used to tear down those couples. Both couples have enough going on as is without Ima.

However, I can see where it makes sense to the writers for Ima to pull the rug out from Tara and Lyla. Ima only has her fledgling porn career to keep her warm at night. Lyla will have been married to a husband who doesn't want her on a porn bed, Jax treated her like a POA, and went back to the good doctor. Ima was used and humiliated. She's probably jealous and bitter.

You don't think Ima didn't have aspirations to end up like Lyla-married to SAMCRO royalty? She gets to sink Lyla's marriage while tarnishing Tara in Jax's eyes. Opie and Lyla are fledging as is, and that news will cause the Prince's eyes to start sparking even with Tommy 2.0 here.

Unpopular opinion- It's a bit disingenuous for the writers to have written Lyla as a poor, struggling single mother who resorts to porn to support herself and her child. How realistic is that?

I'm sure that's news to a lot of single mothers out there. You know the ones who work at least 2 jobs while going to college or some other school at night while scrimping and saving, and really pounding the pavement in various menial jobs to better the lives of themselves and their children.

Not to mention a lot of actual porn stars refuse to have children during their porn career, and actually sound offended when asked if they'll continue to do porn when they start a family.

However,

If Lyla wants to be a porn star, then it's her right and choice to be a porn star. I think it's at great risk to her personal health, and the well-being of her son and stepchildren. However, live the life you want.

It's Opie's right to object, but he has a choice on whether to stay with her or not.

If Lyla leaves her porn star career behind it should be because she wants to, and not because she fears Opie will leave her. Lyla would only resent Opie, and later lash out because she wasn't true to herself.

I don't dislike Lyla. I'm just not that invested in her, and I'm not sure the writers are either because they should have given the character and the audience more to work with.

what has Tara to do with this?? Tara didn't tell anyone that she was pregnant, let alone about the abortion thing...besides Margaret. So how would Ima know? Well and if Ima ends up outing Lyla...then it's Lylas fault. Why did she even tell her. I mean if she wasn't a good enough friend to ask her to drive her to the clinic, then why would she be a good enough friend to tell her about the abortion?? Anyway don't really care about this SL

How would Ima know about Tara's plans to have an abortion? Tara, Margaret, and the clinic are the only ones who know she made an appointment. Gemma knows she was considering it. But how would Ima know?

I can see Lyla discussing her abortion with Ima or one of the other girls at CaraCara and Ima finding out. But Lyla doesn't know about Tara's.

So I can see Ima causing trouble for Opie and Lyla about the abortion, but not Jax and Tara.

And seriously, can we kill Ima. Please. The character is just so useless. Actually she's worse than useless. Zoie, you said it best she's a cheap ploy. And I think this show is better than that.
