it didn't do well at the box office either.

thanks for the recap. i was figuring that i would only like the jared/mel scenes.

^The box office worries me....I keep checking it every so often...they updated it from yesterday, and it's only at 11 million or so. :/ This worries me about potential sequels being made into films.
Idk if it's because the critics panned it or what.

My thinking is more than likely it's because it's only one book. Not like when Twilight came out in Nov. '08 and Breaking Dawn the book came out a few months before in Aug. '08. I think because the series had a few years to engage a wider audience and all the hype surrounding the last book...definitely helped the film.
Does anyone know if The Host sold pretty well during it's initial release? I knew it probably wouldn't do commercially what Twilight made as a film, but I still thought the numbers would be a lot higher. Maybe it'll improve once the weeks progress. It definitely had some competition with GI Joe (a lot bigger budget) and The Croods.

Melanie was actually kind of annoying as the "voice" (which I thought was just handled poorly and awkward) when she was my favorite character in the book. I should've known better because after all it is a Stephenie Meyer movie

Aww, you didn't like Chandler?! I personally thought he was fantastic! Those tears...oh my gosh! They really got to me.

Hi!

I just got finished watching the movie for the first time and I loved it!

I am so anti-Twilight that I didn't know how I would like this movie, but I surprisingly liked it, especially these two (and Ian & Wanda)!

I haven't read the book yet, but I might consider it now when I'm finished reading The Hunger Games series again.

I just read through the Ian/Wanda thread before this one, and it seemed like they were the main/popular couple of the book, but in the movie, I felt like Melanie/Jared was, but I guess it's just your own interpretation of it.

I loved Saiorse's chemistry with both Jake & Max that I really shipped her characters with both, but loved that there was the 4 of them at the end.

In the book, there is a lot more Ian/Wanda, b/c of the medium... But I agree there was more Melanie/Jared in the movie.
