After tonight's episode, the LLN is most definitely Mateo - especially because he kept saying that he couldn't focus. lol

I really love that Jane and Rafael have always been able to talk things out, and they apologize and acknowledge when they're wrong. They are brutally honest with each other and have been bickering like a married couple since the very beginning. And no matter what's going on between them, they always have each other's back.

I don't think I've ever acknowledged how much I love Jane and Raf's nicknames for Mateo: her Mr. Sweet Face and his Buddy.

Okay are people on crack or am I on crack? I thought that was such a funny and lovely Jane and Rafael episode. There were so many parallels.

Jane has always gone behind Rafael's back to make appointments. In fact she did it before and Rafael even caught her saying let me guess, you already made an appointment. It was okay then because it was a case where Rafael didn't disagree. But this one was wrong because he told her no and she didn't bother telling him she was doing it. I can see why she thought it would be okay because she has done it before.

I also didn't think the custody thing bad as the haters made it out to be on every other social media page. They had a custody agreement before they moved in together. Now they broke up again so obviously they are going to need another one especially because they are at a weird place in their relationship.

I loved all the Jane and Rafael scenes so much this episode. It went to show how strong they really are. Even when they weren't on the same page it was weird there was this understanding there. They seemed comfortable. Like Rafael can say **** like I am putting my foot down and instead of it triggering Jane and she makes silly faces at him. I like how they are with each other.

I am glad Petra and JR broke up. I don't mind them but it felt weird to see JR be in a relationship that made her uncomfortable in so many ways. I know they will get back together. I am okay with that. I just want them to do it when JR is ready to be in it.

I am really loving Rogelio at the moment. Yes he is still a buffoon but I like that each episode he owns up to it and he does better.

Oh the Jane and Petra moment at the end was great. After bitching about their "friendship" for years I am finally happy to say I love them and they look believable.

I hated this episode. Usually I'm on Rafael's side but I think he was wrong here. They both were. Rafael acted like a child by putting his foot down on the subject instead of co-parenting. It's not just up to him. And Jane was wrong for making the appt behind his back. I'm also less on Rafael's side because he didn't change his stance by talking to Jane about it. He was semi guilted into it by Petra. And him throwing the lawyer bit into Jane's face and taking off was super immature and inappropriate. Jane's reciprocal actions were no better but I felt like she was just trying reach Rafael's level of immaturity. And he never apologized. He owed Jane an apology for his behavior. She apologized and she even was a big enough person to help him while they were in a fight.

The lesson of planning for bad things while things are still good was a timely one but it was poorly executed. I thought Rafael just looked like a jerk which makes me sad because I love Rafael and I feel like it's easy for the writers to write these lazy Rafael is a jerk arcs over and over to teach a lesson and I'm over it.

I enjoyed the rest of the episode and was happy they could come together eventually but it was a bumpy ride for me.

TFTNT. That *Spoiler alert* was the ring Petra bought for JR. Because it definitely looked like it at the end and Rafael would have to get rid of the one he has and buy a way more expensive one. lol Of course it was foreshadowing but that was the engagement ring Petra bought. I don't know if the pregnancy stuff was foreshadowing a soapy miracle baby? I know Jane was writing about her virgin pregnancy but you know this show. The LLN: When Jane was 30 years old. "I'm pregnant." LLN: Wait, what? Of course Jane was writing about her first pregnancy but again this show. Jennie said somebody will be pregnant this season. Now, course the theory about Michael and Charlie could turn out to be true. If not her, then the only other possible female characters are Lina or Jane. Lina gets a miracle baby after her issues or Jane. And it could still be Charlie and one of them. Yep, another major hint to add to Mateo is the LLN pile. I'm not television business expert but shouldn't Jane still get paid because she came up with the story? A Story by credit? The retooled pilot would not exist without her. I love every J/R fight and find them hilarious, even though I know they're fighting about serious issues and some of it just petty stuff. Jane chasing Rafael on the road. Just funny to me. That muffins joke. Jane and those home buyers. :lol: This episode was so queer and I mean that in the best way. We find out Marlene is lesbian or was that revealed before? She was so freaking giddy. Her lover must be amazing. lol Petra and JR and their issues. The home buyers. Plus the most toxic one, Rose and Luisa and Rose's minion Bobby. That's 8 LGBT characters in one episode. Luisa is playing both of them. Rafael is still taking his medication, so it wasn't forgotten about and I enjoyed that. I think Rafael was just scared which why he kept freaking out about the outcome. Yes, his family was screwed up but they still were considered "normal." Dude definitely had a very privileged life. Handsome, rich, married to a beautiful tall blonde. Did whatever he wanted and always got whatever he wanted. Anyone can be a victim of bullying but I seriously doubt he was. Mateo's youth is so different from his father's. He just wants his son to be "normal" like he was. But he accepted that his son is actually normal. Yes, he has an issue but he's still normal. He freaked out at the thought of Mateo having a disability. Jane was actually more willing to find out, even though making that appointment was petty. But she clearly was more okay with finding out. I cannot wait to see more of this oh so ridiculous but addictive "This is Mars" stuff. That early chapter Jane was writing when Petra walked in was about meeting Rogelio for the first time and her second time with Michael. Who's Patti? Oooh, they so nasty. :lol:

We have to get something great in 5x12 for Rafael to take Jane back. Jane can now write complete stories about her romantic history so far but what about Rafael? That love story is incomplete and Rafael isn't exactly giving her hope for their story and we know their love story has to come full circle and we know it will.

I was not surprised when Jane called the doctor after that interaction with Rafael.

When someone is that authorative and commandeering to you, you just want to rebel automatically.

If Rafael kept his cool he wouldn't have angered Jane to make that impulse phone call.

This felt like a mostly filler episode to me. I enjoyed Rogelio's story because they showed how selfish he has been in the past, and how much he has changed. I particularly loved how he is his daughter's support. The two men in her life truly support her writing.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I've come to think the TPTB do not particularly know how to create 'tension' between couples sometimes...the Petra/JR scenes bore me to death but the way they were broken up felt so random and forced; I always found it odd that JR was not more crushed earlier that her career and lawyer license were just gone due to entanglement with Petra and her lies. She realizes it NOW? Idk it feels forced, and it feels like they couldn't create a love triangle for Petra...they went this route.

To me it also explains how once the show was renewed & TPTB knew it could last at least 3 seasons, and they liked Brett Dier, they did all what they did in S2 to create unnecessary and forced drama between Jafael (poor Rafael bore the brunt of having his character assassinated). I agree with other people here that I saw glimpses of it this episode. I 100% understand Rafael being upset about Jane going behind his back...but he literally said "I am putting my foot down" and didn't even want to discuss it. Just stormed off. Ofcourse Jane reacted that way. The car chase was childish because she was remorseful and he drove off. Like all his development in S3 and S4 are just thrown away for like 15 minutes of an episode. And she had already apologized but he only bought her apology once she helped him sell the house...I did not care for this story. I enjoyed their co-parenting fears. But it just exacerbated the issue where it felt like two different Rafaels in one episode.

Lastly, the show is about Jane's POV but it is interesting to me that they are going down the Jorge route with Rafael where we never got Jorge show any residual feelings, and we aren't seeing even the faintest of a heart glow with Rafael since 5x05 when he decides to give her the card after all until she tells him she will explore her feelings for the cardboard cutout. I wonder when we will see it or will we just:

Also whoever hated the Rafael/Petra storyline in S3B & S4A. I am on the same side. I hated it, and I particularly hated their sex scene because we've never seen anything that sexual and I wish that was J/R lol.

But also it was SO unnecessary. I know they wanted to close the chapter of Rafael/Petra once and for all but they were so terrible together and destructive and ACTUALLY toxic in S1 that nothing could convince me to see them in any other light. If they wanted to close the chapter, they could have just mentioned how Petra had truly moved on...without actually having them sleep together, date, break up, date, and then Petra dumps him.

No we never got Marlene sexuality just that she hated romance in s2 although that seemed to change after the time jump. I am glad she found happiness although I wish she didn't give the pages then Jane might have still worked on the Mars. I enjoyed that

That was me and you can rant to me anytime. I was talking about this with Shelloh just yesterday. Petra has done some pretty unforgivable stuff to Rafael, including but not limited to cheating on him throughout their marriage when he had cancer, false domestic violence claim landing him in jail, hiring someone to drug and seduce him so Jane would leave him, unfreezing his only sample to impregnate herself to trap him in marriage, and then using his actual last sample again without his consent either time. She’s also done countless terrible things to other people. I don’t even dislike her so much as I have a problem when so many people in fandom act like everything she does is amazing and then those same people act like Rafael is satan. I’m just tired of the hypocrisy. I follow this one girl on tumblr (because of other shared fandom interests) and she literally worships Petra and sh**s on Rafael 24/7. Michael stans do it too.

That's something else we should have seen coming after the S2 finale. His comment to faux Petra and Jennie's interview after the S2 finale.

From the other thread. What happened to Abby and Rafael also happened to Xo & Bruce. Xo was with Bruce for 3 years after the time jump but she clearly didn't let him all the way in. We find out she's still in love with Rogelio, even though she still accepted Bruce's proposal. And she wasn't even the one to break it off, he was. Same with Rafael and Abby. He didn't let her all the way in and still wouldn't tell her the truth. He didn't love her like she loved him. I think she also was one the break it off. So that kinda thing is not uncommon on the series. Neither Xo or Rafael cried when both of their 2/3 year old ships ended. Hell, they didn't care at all.

Same! Petra, Luisa, Rose... I see folks falling all over themselves for them despite all the crap they've done - though Petra and Luisa have grown and made strides, Rose is still evil and yet she even gets cut more slack than Rafael. Is it because they're women? Queer? Not in the way of J/M?

Rafael had TWO human reactions this episode that were born out of frustration/anger/fear, but automatically he's the worst most toxic character ever? :rolleyes: He came around very quickly and calmly after having put his foot down, and then justifiably got upset when he learned Jane went behind his back. Even Xo called Jane out for it, and the whole episode Jane felt bad about doing that because she knew she was wrong. I'm really surprised at the negative reaction to this episode - you'd think Rafael killed someone.

I enjoyed this episode and I'm loving this season. I love Rafael, I love Jane, I love Jafael, and I love the Villanueva De La Vega Solanos.

I was so happy to see Jane wearing the engagement ring when imagining Mateo’s life w/ADHD. Yeah, I know it was Petra’s ring for JR, but we all know whats coming and it got me excited! :cheerleader:

I’m guessing that Louisa is just pretending to be in so she can regain Rose’s trust only to get the rest of her secrets and then betray her, not only removing the threat to her family but regaining Rafael’s trust. I think it would be sad to have Louisa make all this progress only to backslide at the very end of the show. So here’s to hoping!

This show is educational: after our LLN’s comment on sociopaths vs psychopaths I had to look the definitions up, cuz I was confused as well LOL
