I think the focus was on Jane and how she's pining over Rafael. As we will see in the next few episodes, we will see how Rafael still loves her

I think that was the main reason for the J/R parallels to Jorge/Alba - Rafael has his walls all the way up because he's hurt. I think as the viewer we were supposed to understand Rafael's POV a bit through seeing Jorge's words to Alba. Also, Rafael still joked with her over text, told her they make a good team, was sweet to her after the card lesson with Mateo and even sent her a smiley after the showing. It's there but just pushed all the way down because he's protecting himself. I'm not into angry Rafael myself so I am trying to take heart in his other scenes when he was being friendly and a good co-parent. Also, we know from spoilers that he softens over time - especially when showing a house with Jane to a couple and their son

i do love when the writers use the other couples to get something across for jane and rafael or do parallels with them like i appreciate it and even thought it was really cute when alba and jorge had petals falling during their kiss but i have mixed feelings about it because that's one of Their things and i feel slightly annoyed with it but as long as that's the extent it goes with copying from them it's fine i guess

I haven't watched the episode yet, but I feel some kind of way about the petals falling for Alba and Jorge already! That is a Jafael thing!! It was just about the only thing that wasn't co-opted for J/M in S2B and S3A which I was thankful for. Now to have Alba and Jorge horning on their thing??? Just NO (said in the twins' "do not touch my body" voice).

Since Michael returned, we've primarily seen the impact it's had on Jane. Moving forward, are we going to get more of a chance to understand Rafael's perspective and why he's feeling these things?

Urman: Yes and no. The show is very much Jane's point of view, but I think you get more and more as the stories go by about where he's been, how much it hurt, what it felt like. That's what we continue to explore as we go, and whether he can recover from it. I think the episode that aired [last week] is a lot about [that]. Jane was like, "Oh, he's going through a hard time." But what you really realize is that, yes, he's going through a hard time but he's taking care of himself in a different way than he would have in the beginning. And I think that speaks to him and his character and how far he's come. What I'm also interested in was that Jane has always been chosen. Michael wanted to be with her and Rafael wanted to be with her, and what does it feel like when she's the person who has to do the chasing and the winning back and try to convince somebody that they're right for her? And she's the person right now who doesn't have everything she wants, even though it's clear to her what she wants. So I felt like that was a really interesting dynamic to be exploring. And also important for the character that she doesn't just get to say, "Rafael, I want to be with you. I choose you," and he's like, "Great." He's like, "No, this was painful. And I've had to shut this part down emotionally to survive and to get through this. And you're not what I want right now because I have to protect myself." So that's a different dynamic for the show and for Jane and something that we were interested in the writers' room in exploring.

Jane is being humbled! I LOVE how Raf isn't running to her just because she has decided that she really wants to be with him. Not only that, but Raf is being an amazing co-parent. This is important. During season 1, Raf was big about saying "Think about Mateo" to try to convince Jane that they should be together. Now, Raf is effectively separating parenting from his feelings for Jane. I love it so much! Also, Jane got called out in different ways. Xo told her to stop talking so much and to stop stalking Raf. Alba was taking to Xo about how Jane needs to stop reading into everything. Ro didn't take her excuse when she failed to write the proposal as promised. All. The. Feels. I don't dislike Jane, but she has been very self absorbed so this was satisfying to see. It's also satisfying to see her knowing exactly who she wants. Like others have mentioned the parallel between Alba/Jorge and Jane/Raf were beautiful. I loved the petals because I am convinced that they were only for this episode. Other notables were JR fighting for Petra. That was sweet! I don't love Rose trying to weasel her way into the kids lives through Luisa, but I was happy to see her. They haven't shown her since episode 5.01, I think. It was a great episode and I am relieved to have the classic Jane vibe back. It almost felt like the show itself was breathing a sigh of relief. Ding dong the love triangle's dead! 🤣

That's a really nice house Rafael and Jane are showing (I so love that she helps him!). Dare I hope for a dream sequence of them in that house raising their family...

Is this the episode where Jane has to show a house on Rafael's behalf because he's stuck elsewhere?
