Back to Vesper and Bond in dining car. Clear that they have just finished their meal. Bond fills Vespers wine glass



Vesper: Oh, so you’re telling me it’s a matter of probability and odds; I was worried there was some chance involved.

Bond: Only if one assumes that the person with the best hand always wins.

Vesper: So that would be what you call ‘bluffing’?

Bond: You know the term. Then you may have also heard that in poker you don’t play your hand, you play the man across from you.

Vesper: And you’re good at reading people.

Bond : Which is why I’ve been able to detect the undercurrent of sarcasm in your voice.

Vesper : I am now assured our money is in good hands.

Bond: from which one might surmise you aren’t overwhelmingly supportive of this plan of action.

Vesper: So there is a plan? Excellent. Somehow I got the impression we were risking ten million dollars and hundreds of people’s lives on a game of luck. What else can you surmise?

Bond: About you?….Well your beauty is a problem. You worry that you won’t be taken seriously….

Vesper: Which one can say of any attractive woman with half a brain.

Bond: Tue, but this one overcompensates by wearing slightly masculine clothing and being more aggressive than her female colleagues, which gives her a somewhat prickly demeanor and, ironically, makes her less likely to be accepted and promoted by her male superiors, who mistake her insecurity for arrogance. I would normally have said only child, but by the way you ignored the quip about your name and your parents I would go with orphan?

Vesper: All right….by the cut of your suit you went to Oxford or wherever and actually think human beings dress like that. But you wear it with such disdain, that my guess is you didn’t come from money and all your school chums rubbed that in your face every day, which means you were at that school by the grace of someone else’s charity, hence the chip on your shoulder. And since your first thought about me ran to orphan, that what I’d say you are. sees a slight reaction. Oh you are. And it makes sense since MI6 looks for maladjusted young men who’d give little thought to sacrificing others in others to protect queen and country. You know former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches. Rolex?

Bond: Omega.

Vesper: Beautiful. Now having just met you I wouldn’t g as far as calling you a cold hearted bastard.

Bond : Of course not.

Vesper: But it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine that you think of women as disposable pleasures rather than meaningful pursuits, so as charming as you are, I will be keeping my eye on our government’s money and off your perfectly formed a.ss.

Bond: You noticed.
Vesper: Even accountants have imaginations. How was your lamb?

Bond: Skewered. One sympathizes.

Vesper rises to her feet gathering her bag.

Vesper: Good evening Mr. Bond.

Bond: Good evening Miss Lynd.

James: Appearently we´re very much in love.
Vesper: Do you usually leave it to porters to tell you that sort of thing?



James: I'm Mr. Arlington Beech, professional gambler.... And you're Miss Stephanie Broadchest...
Vesper: I´m not...
James: You´ll have to trust me on this.


James: I do hate it when religion comes between us.
Vesper: Religion and a security locked door.

James: I need you looking fabulous, so that when you walk up and kiss me on the neck, the other players will be thinking about your neckline and not their cards. Can you do that for me?

Daniel gets his hands on an Oscar James Bond star Daniel Craig will soon be getting his hands on the world's most coveted golden statue. The actor, who gave the 007 film franchise a much needed shot of adrenaline with his rugged make-over of the fictional secret agent, has agreed to be a presenter at this year's Academy Awards ceremony at the Kodak Centre in Beverly Hills next month. Executives from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences observed how well Casino Royale went down with audiences and critics. More importantly, the picture took a whopping half a billion dollars at the worldwide box office ($100 million of that in the UK alone). Those figures made the Oscars folk pay attention because they want leading ladies and leading men with global reach who will appeal to television viewers in the 80-plus countries that broadcast the Oscars show. There are some who felt that Daniel himself should be in the running for a best actor Oscar. His take on Bond - he bruises, he bleeds - was brilliant. Indeed, he may well end up with an Orange Bafta best acting nomination when the list is announced today and I know of one prestigious annual film honour being presented in London next month that has his name on it. Next week Daniel can be seen in the superb movie Infamous, which stars Toby Jones as Truman Capote. Daniel plays one of the real-life killers Capote chronicled in his famous book In Cold Blood. Infamous opens here on January 19. Daniel told me he plans to make a couple more films before he takes on his second assignment as Bond, which means he won't have time for stage work until, possibly, next year. An Oscars spokeswoman commented that the presenters list was 'still being finalised'.
