The compass pointed to Jack at least one time. I don't buy, "Well we wanted to make you only think the compass was pointing toward Jack, but it was really pointing towards Will." That's lame and no one in their right minds would buy it. TnT should listen to themselves once in a while. Remember the whole "If it points to a waffle it doesn't mean you want to be Belgian, it means you really want that waffle."

But I always did love their explanation for Liz killing Jack. "Drowning guilt and slaking lust." And that guilt is still so present in AWE. Which is why I never doubt my ship.

Poor things are so confused they resorted to the easy way out. (W/E) I honestly thought though they were pro-sparrabeth. I think they even said some pro-comments about it in the commentary.

"Jack is vexed by Elizabeth."

"It was the kiss that built up from the 1st movie."

Of course these aren't exact, but I swear I remember them saying it. DMC was so anti-Willabeth that I couldn't believe AWE when I saw it. It's like the J/E moments were erased in DMC.

Ah, but we must remember context. If you look closely, all those J/E moments in DMC built to what HUGE moment? *Drum roll please* The Kiss. This kiss was the very thing that made Elizabeth less trustworthy to Will. It is the source of all their issues (of which they have many...which never really get resolved) that carry on and on in AWE. The marriage was the easy fix-it. So when I watch AWE next time, I'll notice the subtleties.

I've always sort of suspected that the 'Jack/Lizzie' dynamic sort of took them by surprise. They chemistry between Johnny and Keira specifically. That explains the deleted scenes on the CotBP DVD. Those scenes really showcased that chemistry. And since Lizzie ends up with Will at the end of the first film it would be counterproductive to their story to have scenes like 'Peas in a Pod'...with all that J/E sexual tension in it.

I think that the size of the 'Sparrabeth movement' surprised them...especially after DMC. But at that point they had already filmed a good portion of AWE and it would have been too expensive (and they were too stubborn and /or cowardly) to change it.

Maybe someday...years and years and years from now TnT will be able to admit their mistakes.

...but probably not.

That's true.

I both hated and loved the kiss. I hated it because Elizabeth showed her selfish side and left the man that saved them to die. I loved it because it finally proved that there is something there to J/E. Lizzie went back for another kiss and if she was only doing it to chain him, why go back for another one?

Of course, I knew there was something there ever since the first movie but anti-sparrabeth shippers finally agreed on some level with that kiss.

And yeah, Johnny's and Keira's chemistry was not planned and definitely took them by surprise.

Yeah, I don't know about you guys. But I was definitely expecting something more resembling an actual triangle in AWE. With Lizzie being all confused and whatnot and neither Will nor Jack making it easy for her. But we got none of it. Well...unless you count her awkward guilty look towards Will when Jack shows up again, and her lack of denial at Will's thinking that she loved Jack....but even so, we could have had so much more. Gosh. So much potential went to waste.

Oh! And did anyone read that one potential scene (that ended up totally being fake)? It's where Jack is talking to Elizabeth alone and he says something like, "Don't worry. I'll take your actions to the grave. I already have." And it's a scene packed with sexual tension and whatnot... It turned out to be fake, but it was still better than what we got.

^^

And I still maintain that what we got was 10000 times better than what the Whelpabethers got!

Oh, hell yeah!

Lizzie gets 10 years of pirate-y adventures with Jack (in and out of the captain's cabin *wink**wink*) and only 1 day with the Whelp.

Sounds good to moi.

More thread title potential.

Ten years with Jack, One day with Will. Do the math.

That's if the Zombie can find his way back to the island.
He's not much of a Pirate...you know he's going to end up off the coast of Alaska...with a goofy hat and stupid skinny sideburns wondering where Elizabeth is.
