IMHO, Elizabeth probably will end up with Will because this is freakin' Disney and they tend to be very predictable. Although, the predictable ending is not necessarily the best or the right ending. Fanfiction is for the fans to write what SHOULD have happened. I don't care if Lizzie does end up with Will in the third movie. I will always think that she and Jack make a better match and that Disney were were just too wussie to have her end up with a pirate

People often end up with the wrong people in movies...just look at Casablanca.

And what does age have to do with anything?

First, we don't know how old Jack is. I was assuming that he was somewhere around 13-15 years older than Lizzie. I think he's supposed to be in his 30s somewhere. Just because Johnny Depp is in his 40s doesn't mean the character is. And back in that time is was very common place for women to marry men who were their seniors by as much as 30 years. So the age issue is really a moot point in terms of the era the film is set in. Also, age has nothing to do with love. My step-dad is 12 years older than my mom, and they've been married for almost thirty years. I don't personally see any problems with Jack being a bit older than Lizzie. She's much more like Jack than she is Will regardless of age, and Jack understands her better than Will ever could. A good relationship is based on similar interests, understanding each other, loving each other, etc. None of those are dependant on age

And IMHO, it's Jack and Lizzie who are soul mates...if such a thing actually exists. I personally don't care for the idea of soul mates *shrug* Soul mates should be people who truly understand and accept each other for what they are. Loving every aspect of the other person. Jack would truly love the pirate part of Elizabeth. I don't think Will would be able to. I don't think Will would ever be able to truly love the selfish, self-serving, ruthless aspect of Lizzie's personality. Therefore, he'll never be able to love ALL of her. I think he'd try to change those parts of her. Jack, on the other hand, would accept those parts with no problem because he possesses the same characteristics in his own self. So if anyone is soul mates, it's Jack and Elizabeth, not Will and Elizabeth.

And our 'delusions' as that idiotic reviewer termed our love of Jack/Elizabeth are based on much more than one kiss. There was the whole 'peas in a pod' bit from the former movie which shows how well Jack truly understood Elizabeth. There was also quite a bit of Jack/Elizabeth chemistry in the first movie during that scene, the island scene, heck any of the J/E scenes. But mainly there were tons of J/E moments in this last movie. There was the whole marriage speech and a proposal to boot. Yes, the proposal was teasing, but it was still a proposal and I think Jack was at least partly serious in doing the proposing. There was the whole persuasion speech and the immense flirting during it. There was the curiousity bit and the almost kiss which was hotter than the actual kiss. Then there was the kiss at the end which both of them were totally into, and Lizzie almost kissed Jack AGAIN. If the kiss were just to trick Jack, she would not have very nearly kissed him yet again. And she didn't need to kiss Jack to distract him. She could have distracted him in many ways that did not include locking lips. It all comes down to the fact that Lizzie WANTED to kiss Jack, and she used the situation as an excuse. And there is also the whole compass bit. It pointed TO Jack NOT to Will! And Norrington even saw the chemistry between Jack and Elizabeth and mentioned as much to Elizabeth. And then, of course, was Lizzie's actions after Jack went down with the Pearl. She almost looked like she was in agony. And she agreed to go to the ends of the earth to save him. So I wonder who the 'delusional' ones are?

I think it's the people who totally discount that there is anything beyond friendship between Jack and Elizabeth.
