I see what you mean. It certainly didn't help the scandalous way that the media butted in on their separation

This is the problem - they think they know "celebrities".

Plus, when it starts conflicting with the show itself, the audiences suffer too.

I remember when Chad casually confirmed her relationship with James & everyone criticized him for it because they assumed he did it just to expose their privacy

I remember that. I have no idea what his intentions were, but it still wasn't fun for Sophia to have that relationship confirmed by her ex-husband

I remember on OhNoTheyDidn't site, there was a One Tree Hill post in which somebody posted a whole account of an experience of meeting Chad, who according to them, was sounding bitter about Sophia/James. It was when they were dating, and he was in a pub talking to this person

and just saying things implying that he wasn't happy about them together and just drunkenly blabbering about it. (People were spotting them together in Wilmington a lot at the time.)

I really didn't like how Brooke kept trying to push him away at that point. Plus, it leaves her in a mess when the Fantasy Boy Draft goes wrong!

It does, I can understand why she wasn't ready to commit to Lucas, but it did all get quite messy
