& the irony is that a lot of shows that have high ratings don't have a huge internet presence, & some shows with really rabid fans online don't actually have that many viewers, so I'd say the first option is better...

Unless what they want is completely far off from what their audience is showing them. Just don't focus on such little things, writing is more important most times.
