The Leading gladiator in a suit Olivia Pope had an affair with (and is still very much in love with) the President of the United States Fitzgerald Grant. She left him because he was married and she wanted him to be a better man for his wife, children, and the country. But they are still madly in love with each other. Recently he has been accused by a past intern, Amanda Tanner of having an affair with her too that ended very badly. If this is true or not is not a hundred percent clear yet.

So things are now more complicated than ever between Olivia and Fitz. She has taken on Amanda as a client and has pulled away from him. He repeatedly tells Olivia that he loves her and tells his right hand man Cyrus that Olivia is the love of his life. But it's tense, and complicated, and filled with so much angst.
